Hi,  I just joined. My scan date was 12/8 and supervisor review 1/24. I keep a long and I get the same response. My only question is,  does it go over 12 weeks total? I'm currently in my 9 th week total.

-Montreal embassy

I've started to ask them what happens at 12 weeks (I'm at 10 1/2 right now, roughly). They won't answer that question. They keep avoiding it say "We have up to 12 weeks", to which I respond "So what if you aren't done by 12 weeks?" and they just don't answer it. I don't think they even know.

I'm sure they are "working as fast as they can" with the resources they have. They need more resources. Either whoever the government outsources this to (I've heard the people we are talking to on the phone aren't federal employees, but an outside company) needs to spend more money on more staff and pocket less profits, or the federal government needs more resources for it.

EDIT: THe third option is they need to devote effort into improving their system. Why are such a small number of countries doing electronic processing? that is just crazy to me. it is the 21st century. THe vast majority of countries should be able to submit their paperwork electronically. It should be the EXCEPTION to do mail, not the rule. It's like we are working with a system that is 30 years old.

Congrats!  Let's hope they do more Nov 25 cases... :D  Just out of curiosity, when did you start the entire process - the USCIS portion?  I started January 18th 2016.

Mine started in April it was sent to Nvc in June, but I had to stop due not having money at the time to pay the fees. I paid the fees until Nov ?

Hi....yup my scan date is 12/6 and super visor review 1/17 still waiting. Called this morning and nothing. They told me still under review.

So sad.... I just want to be with my husband. We thought the process would've been quicker. It was going well last year ...

Well, in fact they really need improving their processes. Think about this! They answer calls and spend enormous time with this. They answer e-mails etc. If they devote more time to review and provide correct/fast updates visa their system we won't call every day. Than people could be transferred to document review. That's so simple and so effective.

I've got a reply from expedite. It's:

We sent your request to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in UKRAINE. However, they cannot expedite this case. To be fair to all applicants, the Department of State schedules immigrant visa interviews in the order that the cases complete processing at the NVC.

So. It won't helpful. Still waiting for CC.

Let's guess! How much days do we have in February to have just any chance for March scheduling? In other words when we can relax as March has gone.

Did you not file with electronic processing?  Thats possible from Canada, and most other people on this board have had a far faster experience with it.

Hey, every expedite is different.  Financial hardship "can" be a reason to expedite, but if you're able to get another job then they may not see it as hardship.  We just got an expedite approved because my husband just lost his job, hasn't been able to find another as his visa is almost up and can't be renewed (outside of the criteria for another), and we have a new baby to support. In addition to this we are soon going to have to find new accommodation which is proving difficult on a temporary basis due to major housing crisis here.  We had to provide a lot of info and proof of these matters.  You are quitting your job, not being made redundant, so you may not have enough weight to your argument.  (just being realistic for you).

When it comes to changing consulates however, we were able to do so and they issued a new case number. This was before NVC though. We moved countries shortly before my i-130 was approved.

I would suggest contacting NVC though to see what's up with your case taking 7 weeks so far. Perhaps do so in an email to them (use the "askNVC" contact form or they won't respond with any info. Explain your situation and state that "for this reason I am hoping to receive an update on my case, so as to be able to plan accordingly".  I was really polite when emailing them on the AskNVC contact form and they've been good at replying.

Oh I forgot to mention also.  Someone already mentioned this earlier in the posts, but it seems expedites lately only speed up the interview stage (e.g: move you to the front of the interview line), but don't speed up NVC.  I'm hoping that's not the case, but it seems to be the scenario we and a couple of others are in.  The exception to this rule is expedites for medical emergencies such as being scheduled for surfer in the US etc. Those get pushed through. But sadly for the rest of us it only makes a small difference. If you're already at NVC for 7 weeks I don't think it will speed things up much.

Thank you so much! This is definitely helpful information. As you said, we are not being made redundant (both my husband and I follow the same contract and will be quitting at the same time), I don't think this will do much in an expedite request scenario. We called up NVC last night and the operator said the standard spiel of escalating it to supervisor review. He did admit that they are pathetically backlogged and he was very realistic with his answers in regards to timelines as opposed to just lying and saying vague, standard things.

Hope you get your cc really soon! Thank you!

I was was trying to read through the thread and see if anyone has gone over 12 weeks ... I haven't seen it so my fingers are crossed.

I ask them the same question and I always get the same "well, I've never seen any of them go over 12 weeks, that never happens".  I always have the same reply... Your website says 2-4 weeks, you say 6 weeks, after 6 weeks it goes to a supervisor, and I'm currently at 11 weeks... so you're not very high on the trustworthy scale... what happens at 12 weeks when the supervisors 6 weeks are up?

They're clueless.

I ask them how come some of the cases that come in 2-3 weeks after mine are already completed... they say they can't tell me because all of the cases differ.  I usually counter with, no, we're all looking at IR1 cases.  They claim, well, some re more complicated than others.  I point out that for me there are no kids involved, just 1 person, just 1 income 6-7 times the minimum amount needed, and so no assets to add and evaluate or anything... i've asked many times if it's based on region, and they vehemently say it's not... Then again, they're not high on my trustworthiness.  I treat them as "anything you say can and will be used against you...".

I have often wondered if the media, in their immigration craze can be used to draw some attention to this stuff... though it seems they're busy with the ban and wall more than caring about the legal immigration process..

At least the answers you got about why cases complete faster than others is consistent with the answers I got.

In my case all they have to look at is a single page, since the rest of my stuff was already completed and deemed "sufficient" back in November so in terms of "some cases are more complicated", it would be impossible in my case.

The lady just sort of stumbled and when she couldn't say anything she went back to the old "Well I can't talk about other cases with you", to which I responded "I'm not asking about specific cases, I'm asking generally" and again they go back to "We can only discuss your case".

I'm heading to visit my wife now for a week so when I get back I'll be 2 days away from 12 weeks. Not able to call between now and then (out of the country), so we'll see what happens.

I ended up doing that for the holidays... Enjoy! And hope good news hits between now and your return.
