I've had my first interview and they told me that theyre going to call or email me if they already have the decision because there are still candidates that need to be test for a couple of weeks more. On my side i didnt tell them about the work permit yet as they never asked me about it. I still need to wait if theyve already raised a decision.

Is there any chance for a second interview too for anyone ? The headline in my notice says "Request for applicant to appear for initial interview" does this mean they may also call for another interview at a later time ?

Actually...if your I-485 status has not changed to "case ready to be scheduled for an interview" then it is likely your case has not left the NBC and you are on track to have the interview waived. HOWEVER, nothing is certain and that can change any day.

My case is still at "fingerprint fee received" and I am hoping it stays that way until my case becomes approved. In fact, every time I check my status I hope I don't get the dreaded "case ready to be scheduled for an interview"  because then I know it's at least another 6 months given my local office's backlog :S

Yes our status still says the same "fingerprint fee received". Keep us updated on your case. I am interested to see what happens.

Hi everyone. My husband's EAD came in the mail today!! Yay! It is only good for one year though, and since it took 3 months to get, does this mean we need to apply for a new one around 3 months before this one expires? Also, when he finally gets a green card, he will still need the EAD card right? I guess I'm just trying to understand what happens next, because renewing the EAD every year will be a pain. Thanks!

Hi allyrose,

You will NOT need to apply for EAD every year after you get your Green Card. Once you have your Green Card, you do NOT need your EAD for job and travel; Green Card is used instead.

Also, if he got the in 3 months; probably within next 3-6 months, he will get his Green Card, so no need to re-apply for EAD again, so just wait for the Green Card. Worse case scenario, if he doesn't get it and you only have 2 months pending for EAD, then he needs to apply for an extension of EAD - but I am confident you will get GC before that.

Thanks! Nothing has happened for his green card since his biometrics on the 30th of March, so we think it will be a while. I just want to be prepared in case he has to apply to extend it. :)

Your husbands timeline and mine are extremely similar. My biometrics were on the 30th of March as well. How long did his EAD take to go from Card Being Produced to Card Mailed and did he receive it yet? Cheers.

It said it was approved last Thursday saying they sent an approval notice, which we got Monday. It then said Card Was Mailed on the 2nd, and we got it today. It's just EAD, we didn't do AP. :)

So 8 days from the EAD being approved to card in hand. Not too bad. Did the EAD come with tracking online?

"You do not need to apply for an EAD if you are a lawful permanent resident. Your Green Card (Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card) is evidence of your employment authorization."
