Weird because I received my approval letter but my case status online has not changed

They're pretty finicky with the online status, however an approval letter is absolute. Congratulations!

Anyone have advice for seeking jobs that do not require fluent English. My wife speaks good but not great English and she is concerned 😯

In most cases, if she can speak understandable English, she should be fine. She can always take ESL classes to further better her English!

Good to know, hopefully we will get updated on that soon.

Actually...if your I-485 status has not changed to "case ready to be scheduled for an interview" then it is likely your case has not left the NBC and you are on track to have the interview waived. HOWEVER, nothing is certain and that can change any day.

My case is still at "fingerprint fee received" and I am hoping it stays that way until my case becomes approved. In fact, every time I check my status I hope I don't get the dreaded "case ready to be scheduled for an interview"  because then I know it's at least another 6 months given my local office's backlog :S

My AOS/EAD app was received Feb 2. Yesterday I called USCIS to do a SR. Alrhough the lady I talked to last week told me I couldn't do a service request for two more months, the lady yesterday said you can do a SR any time after about day 75 because that's considered "outside normal processing time" she also told me although it can take 30 days to hear back, my target date is May 8. So I guess that's when they're hoping to complete my SR?

im on day 90 today. If I don't hear anything by day 100 I think I'll try calling and asking a tier 2 officer

Sometimes they don't update the website. Similar to how the majority of us were unable to track our cases online when we first submitted our application, your case is processing/has been approved, they just didn't update the website. Don't fret, you have the hard copy of the approval notice and that's the important part. If it is really concerning you, give USCIS a call to confirm it has been approved, but I really don't think you should let it concern you!

Also I saw your previous post in reference to the verbiage on the approval notice for the EAD -  "'you may request to change employers if your form I-485 has been pending for at least 180 days. In order to do so you need to submit documentation about your new job offer.' So does this mean my husband can now get a job, but if he loses it, he a) cannot get another job because our I-485 has not been pending for that long and we're screwed and b) if it has been 180 days, can't simply change employers and start to work at the new job?"

I didn't see this the first time I read my approval notice so I went back to read it again, especially because I just accepted a second job. It does say if you have a pending I-485 and I-140 The "and I-140" is the important part, that is the immigrant petition for an alien worker - so no need to worry, it doesn't apply to any of us!

Hope you get your card in the mail soon! I know you guys were pretty desperate, if your husband doesn't have a job lined up yet he should definitely start applying to places now if he hasn't yet! Best of luck!

Thanks! It says the card has been sent as of yesterday, so now we're just waiting! Wish we had an update on AOS though, no update on that since biometrics a month ago. Ugh! We all hate the waiting and there are no answers haha :)

Has anyone who's been scheduled for an AOS interview received the EAD card or atleast the approval ? I'm concerned about a possibility that, because of my AOS interview thats coming up in 2 weeks from now, they would close my EAD application although its been 87 days on that already. I dont want my EAD being closed and wait for the green card for atleast one more month. I'm so done with this waiting period. Its so frustrating and I'm so broke right now. Yes I wanna be approved for the green card but I need EAD as soon as possible so that I could get my drivers license and atleast go for job interviews. Anyone in the same boat ?

I would suggest registering for an account on USPS website. Whats great is that they have started a new service known as "Informed Delivery" which is supposed to be rolled out all over USA in this year but many states have already been included in the program. This service basically sends you an email everyday which contains screenshots of all of your mails that are coming up that day. The screenshots contain only the outer image of the envelopes (or letter pieces) but you actually know your card is coming up when you see your name and USCIS stamp. The photos are taken by automated equipment and there's absolutely no fee for this service so just go and search for "USPS informed delivery" on google.

Do you know anyone who gets an interview waiver has to wait atleast 6 more months to get the green card ? If I were you I would pray that my AOS interview gets scheduled because then the processing time is 'normal' but with the waiver the processing is wayyyy too slow.

Best of luck !

With a waiver you gotta wait for atleast 6 more months as compared to the applications with an AOS interview. So it would only be good if one loves to wait.

I had no idea that it takes so much longer to get the Green Card if your interview gets waived...
