Save yourself lots of trouble! Any domestic flight out of the US without AP automatically leads to the abortion of your AOS. You must have your AP to leave the country. Leaving and have someone mail you the AP out will get you in trouble with USCIS when you come back.

To all -> don't make domestic travel plans if you don't have your AP or Green Card in your hand. Don't stress yourself too much.

Hope you all had a great easter weekend!

Sascha

Okay....i'm sure you meant international

That doesn't make any sense. You don't need a green card to travel domestically. Also, domestic flights don't leave the US, it's an international flights that leaves the US. We have a wedding in Rhode Island in July and are flying there. My husband does not have his green card or AP, but should definitely not need that to travel domestically. I think you meant to say international not domestic.

Yes sorry I meant international flights!

Thanks

Looks like most of us will be getting the new card designs, though I wouldn't mind the old card if I get it before May...

Hey February friends!

Just wanted to update - on April 6 I submitted a service request to expedite my EAD, I received a letter in the mail to fax evidence of a job offer on April 12 and faxed my reply on April 13. Today I checked my status and found out my EAD was approved and a new card is being produced! It's been 64 days since I submitted my application and 13 days since I put in my expedite request.

So excited and relieved. I even went to get a bottle of wine to celebrate with hubby when he gets off work!

Hope that those who tried to expedite around the same time receive a response sometime soon, and those who didn't try to expedite don't wait too much longer!

Extremely unlikely. Not even those with a valid job offer always get their EAD expedited. You knew that this is what you signed up for and so does USCIS when they look at your case. Either try to expedite with a job offer and hope for the best, or you have to find a very good reason why he needs to work asap. Financial hardship can also backfire because you sent off paperwork not even 3 months ago proving that you'll be able to support him (or a co-sponsor).

On your biometrics letter it says what to bring. The letter itself and your passport. It's not an interview, they wont ask questions. It's just fingerprints and picture taken and then your signature. You should be fine.

You can expedite without a job offer if you can find a reason which fits the USCIS Expedite criteria which can be found here  https://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria (the policy manual gives an example for some of the expedite criteria). However, for the EAD, you'd have the most success if he had a job offer. I just expedited my case and was approved today based on a job offer, it took about 2 weeks to do and the card can take up to 30 days to be produced and delivered. Also, you're almost at day 75, so if you can't find a reason to expedite you can submit an inquiry on day 75 (I have heard that sometimes it helps). My advice would be to wait another week and call to submit an inquiry or try to find him a job!

I hope you hear something soon, I know you and your husband have been desperate for work for some time now. My husband and I were in a similar situation, we are struggling to get by, but I felt a weight lifted off our shoulders. I nearly cried when I found out - I am so excited for him to get home so I can tell him. I really hope you find an offer so you can try to speed up the process. It doesn't always work for everyone, but it's worth taking the chance if you can get an offer. If you do manage to find a job offer, let me know if you have any questions about how to do the expedite, I'd be happy to help however I can!

I did my biometrics on march 12 and no news here either. So I feel you.

We called and made an inquiry on day 75. Hope it helped, but I'm not expecting much!
