Hello fellow February filers! (January 27th for me actually and I got an RFE)

I've been trying to keep up with this thread but I'm just wondering if my case is normal... on myUSCIS it still says "Your case has been received". I did my first AOS biometrics February 7th and the EAD one on march 12th. For some reason, which I think is because of my RFE, I had 2 biometric appointments. One with all 10 fingers and one with just index.

Starting to feel like it's been too long. Does my case seem normal these days? Should I try calling in the morning? Thank you <3

Was your RFE a request for Initial evidence, or additional evidence? And when did you send in your response?

Quick update:

Went to an InfoPass yesterday to ask about expediting the EAD due to having a job offer - the lady told me that it would be a good idea to try at least since they are now up to 4 months processing times for EAD. I still needed to do the expedite request over the phone or by mail to MSC, so the InfoPass was not needed.

I got an expedite referral number assigned with a note to expect (no guarantee) an initial response within 5 days - let's see how it goes...

I called to put in a Service Request last Thursday (today is Day 5) and when I track my case on myUSCIS it says my expedite request has been completed. I have a job offer as well, but I feel like my case is going nowhere. Which sucks.

And with that I spoke to soon - if you track it and it says completed, I think that may mean they have sent off a letter requesting you send them more information! I was literally JUST delivered a letter from a very nice mail man, and it definitely made my day.

The letter has all of my information, followed by "Upon receipt of your request for expeditious processing, your case was reviewed and a determination was made that we need additional information to make a decision regarding your request. Please fax proof of a pending job offer to the following number...

I am going to fax off the information tomorrow, as I don't have a fax machine at my fingertips (who faxes anything anymore?). Hopefully it is successful!

I got a request for Initial Evidence on February 6th and mailed my response on February 15th. And then on February 21st my case was updated on myUSCIS. Why?

Well if you had a request for initial evidence and they are saying it's almost 75 days that is great. I read this info today and it says if your request was for initial evidence the waiting period starts over when they receive your response to the RFE. But it looks like they didn't do that for you. So I'm hoping this info is wrong and they won't make my time start over also, because my RFE was also for initial evidence, as apprised to additional evidence .

I have been wanting to expedite my husband EAD so bad! Not sure how to though since he does not have a job offer.  We bought a car yesterday for uber and he is signed up for Uber and Lyft.  We just waiting on the EAD to complete the process.  My husband needs to start working so bad! :(

You don't have to have a job offer to expedite your EAD, but it can help.

That's insane. 48 days compared to the 110+ days some of the November and December have been waiting is just crazy.

So, I got my RFIE today and I'm completely confused. I expected it to be requesting 2016 tax information but this isn't what I expected at all:

"Submit a copy of the marriage certificate, issued by the appropriate civil authority, between the K-1 applicant and the I-129F petitioner."

But.... I did? When we were issued our marriage certificate, I paid for 2 extra official copies and I included one of them in my AOS package. So I have no idea what they want. Another original? A copy only (I don't see why an original would be less than acceptable though instead of moreso)? My marriage license as well as certificate?

I'd appreciate any insight.

Related, am I able to include my 2016 tax information when I send this back even though they're not asking for it yet? I don't want to get a second RFE and I know for sure they didn't have that in my package.

Hey, I'm in the same boat as you.  Sent in a certified copy of my marriage certificate and received a RFIE saying it wasn't provided.  So frustrating but glad I wasn't alone.  I sent another certified copy and a photocopy the next day after speaking with an agent on the phone who said the person processing my file "probably wasn't paying attention" while processing it and I should just do what they say.  My status updated two days later saying that they had received it but since then no changes to speak of.  The waiting is killing me and I'm super concerned that this will affect my work permit which I really need.  I didn't submit the 2016 tax return so I guess I'll see if I get a further RFE but I'll definitely bring it to the interview in case.

Pretty sure he's just extremely lucky and an exception. He filed end of February and there's been barely any of the January Filers who got their EAD approved yet. His file made it somehow on top of the other files and got processed. Highly doubt that means that the processing times will be faster for us :( Even the USCIS staff on the hotline say now that the average processing time for EAD varies now around 120 days. of course there's always hope ;)
