It was the birth certificate. I sent the international one, but they thought it was a translation. So I got the international one notarized got a apostille on it and added a letter saying that the birth certificate is a multilingual document.

So you didn't submit a copy of your original birth certificate? I think that this is what they actually want to see from you.

You can just order a birth certificate online in Germany and have it sent to you.

I hope I won't get an RFE... :-/

Don't worry!Just state that it's a multilingual document and no translation. Since you're also from Germany, you have the same document so just attach a letter then :) You can also send a copy of the original one. Idk if that matters since they don't accept foreign languages...

It should be fine as long as you also submitted a copy of your German birth certificate.

It says everywhere:

A copy of the intending immigrant's birth certificate along with English translation. (If in any language other than English)

In this case it does matter as they want to see your actual foreign birth certificate. They specifically ask for it AND for a translation :)

I already submitted the documents to USCIS.

What kind of letter should I attach? Just that this is a multilingual document?

I don't have my original birth certificate with me only the international one.

I didn't. My German birth certificate is at my parents house in Germany.

I only have the international one with me sinceI thought this version would be alright.

This is what I found in a different post:"

We got the same RFE (Birth Certificate Translation) and were using an International BC (same as you) - we copied the front and back (back has some 'translation codes') and sent it back to them (with a short note: "International Birth Certificate - translated into many languages - including english") and they accepted it just fine. I recommend you do the same""

Just a little note no actual letter.

You didn't bring your birth certificate with you?! You will need it in the future! You live in the US now and should have documents that identify you with you.

For now just have your parents scan it for you so you can print it and send it to USCIS. Then request another birth certificate or have your parents send you your original one. You very likely have to present it at your AOS interview (if you get one). You are supposed to bring all original papers to that interview. If you don't want to wait until you get that RFE you can submit it asap as you have your NOA1 paper in hand. Other VJ members might tell you though to wait until you get that RFE. It's up to you.

Or try doing what saeshhh did.

Okay okay...I didn't thought the original birth certificate was so important.

I will let my mom know that she should send me a copy of the original.

For now a copy is sufficient. So the fastest way to get that is if your mom scans your birth certificate and you then print it (it will technically be a copy). She needs to send you the original one though for future references (e.g. AOS interview).

Ok so I'm going back and forth between this thread and February thread because I did not know which month I was considered to be a filer of! Sent trackable package via 2 day shipping to Chicago for $7.92 on 2/25 (Saturday) it was received 2/27 per the tracking info. Got our 3 I-797 forms in mail today and it shows Received Date as 2/27 and Notice Date as of 3/3/2017. That $8 shipping was well worth it!!! MSC tracking numbers still do not show up in the system and Tier 2 calls are still not accepted in the afternoons. Our NOA did show correct birthdate and alien number and had no blank boxes so that problem has been fixed it seems.

Did you receive text notifications prior to receiving printed NOA's?
