Banks are still closed all around town and I'm not sure if we can open a joint savings account online. I also don't know if it would look weird that our savings account would be at a different bank than the rest of our accounts. I was also advised that a checking account would be better than a savings- do you have any advice?

Online Savings accounts are very popular nowadays. You do not need to be physically present at a branch. You can do this entirely online + a mailing step for the signature part. I don't think it would hurt to get started on this.

Bank of America Savings that would require a physical in person presence to open in comparison is junk.

https://www.bankofamerica.com/deposits/savings/regular-savings-account/ - .01%

https://www.ally.com/bank/online-savings-account/ - 1.2% -- interest is literally 100x better. You can make the initial deposit online or with a check.

It's not weird to have an online savings account separate from the rest of your accounts. People do it all the time. My wife and I have individual checking accounts and we have combined savings goals for vacations, new car, emergency fund etc via Ally.

No, its not weird, your savings account can be a any bank - the soonest you can put things together and send back to them its better - who knows after recieving back your rfie they might very well waived your interview-cheer up ya'll gonna be ok.

Hello all,

We are putting together our RFE packet to "prove we have a valid marriage" and that it wasn't just for immigration. Wondering if you guys think we have enough financial documents? We rent from my mom so we don't have a lease or anything. But we do have 1. licenses showing the same address 2. pictures of our credit cards since we are authorized on each others. We have four cards, and each two have the same numbers. 3) picture of the car title and registration in our name. 4) bank account statements showing we each transfer each other money as well as my mother money for rent 5) my husband's credit card statements showing he uses his credit card that I'm authorized on for groceries and gas 6) statement from our joint savings account 7) a flight itinerary from when we went to a wedding as well as pictures 8) pictures and Facebook statues from all throughout our relationship 9) sworn affidavits from friends and family. Do you think this is enough?

We talked about it, and don't want to have a joint checking account right now- just a personal preference. Surely this is not new to USCIS? I am hoping they will be understanding in knowing we are young and just starting out, so we don't have a house, property, or bills addressed to us yet (other than credit card bills.)

Thanks for any advice.

Hello all,

We received our combo card in early May and are now at 198 days since the last update on the green card interview. Is this within the timeframe where I could call and try to help push it along? Are other people experiencing this length of time to get word back?

I would recommend calling to submit a service request with an officer or submitting one online.

My interview was waived, however I submitted a service request just after passing the six month mark and got a reply one week before I was notified my green card was approved. I would submit the request, it might help getting people to look at your case!

How long did it take exactly for you to get a reply? Tomorrow will be three weeks since I spoke to a Tier 2 officer who didn't have any info for me and submitted a service request on my behalf but the SR still isn't even assigned to someone.

Your local office?

I supposed it'd be San Francisco. I don't think I've gotten that far in the process to know definitively yet.

It took about two and a half weeks and I got my reply back. I also wasn't impressed by the reply so I called and spoke with an officer around a week after getting the reply, they confirmed again that my case was still at the nbc and didn't have any remarks saying it may require an interview. Less than a week later my case was approved.

Thanks for the info. I submitted my SR's exactly three weeks ago today with a T2 officer who said to call back in 2 weeks if I don't hear anything back. So I called back today because they're not even assigned to someone yet, but the T2 officer I spoke to this time couldn't give me anymore info either. All she said was that there are no notes indicating that I may require an interview, just like you. She also said the last time "my page was looked at" was August 29th, a day after I submitted the SR. Not sure if that means anything though.

The weird thing is that she suggested I email the lockbox support to try and get a direct answer about the case. But I don't know what that'd do for me as they only sort applications and cash checks before rerouting them somewhere else...

I'm in the same situation put in a service request at the end of August. I'm supposed to hear back from them this week. When I logged into my account it said as of Sept 11, 2017 an officer has been assigned to my case for the service request.

Mine still haven't been assigned since August 28th. I really wonder why it takes 3+ weeks for something like this, and when I call and speak to a Tier 2 officer I don't really get a reply either.

Let me know what your reply says once you get it.
