No update on my case yet...wondering why people who filed after me already received a status update on their case...or is that normal?

I have no update on mine either. Did my biometrics last March 21st. Called USCIS yesterday for service request since its more than 75 days since we filed it. Yesterday I checked on USCIS web account it says the request is completed but status stayed the same. Im hoping to hear from them soon. :(

It's normal. Every case is different. It's important not to compare to individual cases because it'll drive you crazy. Just having like an average timeframe (i.e. EADs for most February filers won't be processed till next month without a request to expedite based on the processing times) is helpful. Don't worry!

I can't expedite my EAD case since I don't have a job offer. But that's okay. I can wait.

Hopefully, I'll hear or see some news soon. May is around the corner. :)

Haha. Really?

I wouldn't mind an update even if it says 'Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview'. :D I mean I knew it can take forever but...yeah, a status update would be nice.

Yeah. We're like 4 days apart from filing and biometrics appointment. :D Got my Timeline up here but I don't know how to put it in my signature. :D I'm pretty sure your update is just around the corner. All of us will get through this eventually. It's just the waiting sucks.

Current timeline:

July 2019 - filed I-751

August 2020 - filed N400

Sept. 2020 - i-751 status "Case Was Transferred to a New Office". Transferred to NBC.

Very good. Congratulations !

Well the approval notice wont be enough for him to start working but he can search and apply for jobs atleast. He just wont be able to "work for pay" without the EAD in hand. Thats because any when he starts any job he is required to fill section 1 of I-9 form (Employment Eligibility Verification) on first working day. And on the third working day the employer would fill section 2 of the form no later than third working day after actually verifying your husband's possession of the EAD card. The main reason why you cant fill the forms with just the approval notice is that I-9 form contains "issue date" and "start date" fields, and the approval notice doesnt tell you the actual dates. Only the EAD contains complete information.

But congratulations once again. Atleast he's been approved ! Get your things ready and be prepared meanwhile.

Congratulations! I checked the Texas Service Center processing time for EAD and it says they're processing the ones from Dec. 2016. Comparing to your filing date, yours was processed early, so I'm thinking these processing times are not that accurate?

You may get an SSN when he gets his EAD card so he can start working.

It normally takes a week or two before you get the card in hand. And yes by preparation I mean update your resume, make a nice cover letter, get some professional looking clothes and shoes, and practise some job interview questions and answers from the internet.
