Hi,

I just want to share my interview yesterday.

I went there with my husband and our two daughters. I had to pass the security check gate (just like at the airport). They didn’t allow me to bring in baby food or water except the milk bottle for my little one.

After I checked in, 30 minutes later, a lady came and led me to the interview room.

She first ask me questions in the N-400 and we started with the civic questions.

  1. Who is the first president?
  2. Who wrote Declaration of Independence?
  3. What did Martin Luthier King do?
  4. Where is the Statue of Liberty?
  5. If the president can no longer serve, who becomes the president?
  6. What is one thing Benjamin Franklin is famous for?

  • Reading:

When is Columbus Day?

  • Writing

Columbus Day is in October.

I passed the interview and a letter will be sent to me in 1-2 weeks to inform about the Oath ceremony. Since I have a name, I am going do my oath in the courthouse. Oath ceremony usually takes place at the courthouse on last Friday of every month.

P/s: They said: the 10-year green card will not be sent to me because I passed the citizenship interview.

Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your experience. Hoping ours will be similar in the coming months :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi everyone. It’s been 2 weeks since my interview. I’ve heard nothing from USCIS for my Oath. I changed my name, so I’m going to have the ceremony at the courthouse.

During the interview, the officer told me that I would receive the letter for my Oath within 1-2 weeks. I don’t know what’s going on.

I called USCIS, they told me to call back on June 28 if I still see nothing.

is there anyone who had the Oath at courthouse? How long does it take after the interview? Thank you so much.

Had N-400 biometrics scheduled 7/5 but did a walk in at 2.30pm Friday 6/21.

Security actually said they were glad I did as he said they had "350 appointments" for July 5th - so I'd recommend also doing a walk-in this week if you can.

The process itself was incredibly fast - I didn't have to wait for anything. Literally took 5 minutes.

Wanted to update people on here about my case. Had my interview on July 25th and got approved the same day.

- They said they would mail my oath within a week or two

- When I didn't hear back, I made an infopass to check on it

- They said my I-751 was holding up my N-400, so they couldn't schedule my oath until that was resolved (filed 2+ years ago and well past priority date)

- Got in touch with the Senator and Rep's office and they started sending inquiries

- Senator's office got an email saying there was an unresolved issue with my I-751 and hence they couldn't schedule my oath yet. But that they were working "quickly" to resolve it.

- August 24th, got an update on my case status for I-751 saying "Name was updated". Apparently this status is common if they re-open your file.

- This morning (August 29th), got a notification that my Oath was mailed

Well I'm FINALLY ready to be done with this process. Frustrating that it took all this work to get them to schedule my oath, but thankful that I'll be a citizen soon!

Thanks for sharing this - we just received our Interview was Scheduled update for the N400 but haven't heard anything for the 751 in over 17 months. At least we know we can follow your process if the 751 holds up our Oath ceremony. Thank you!

I had my N-400 interview on May 28 and the officer said I should receive a notice for my Oath within a week or two.

Min June 6, my I-751 was approved and I received a notice saying I will receive my 10-year green card within next 60 days.

After 2 weeks from the interview,  still nothing from USCIS, I called them and asked if my I-751 holds up my Oath. They said they don’t know and told me to wait for 3 months.

I contacted the senator office and they sent USCIS an inquiry. Yesterday, USCIS answered that since I have my name change, my Oath is scheduled by the Federal court and there are about 6 ceremonies in a year. I should receive a notice for my Oath within the next 30-60 days.

An advice for you, when you have your interview, you should ask the officer to approve your I-751. So it will not hold your Oath. And if you want to have an early Oath, don’t make a name change.

Best of luck for the upcoming interview! And please share your experience! Thank you.

Did you ever hear the case was transferred or anything prior to the citizenship interview?

Ah yeah. We haven't even seen an update like that online. The only thing we know is from my husband going to get his passport stamped and them telling him they requested the case from CSC in February.

Not sure what to do at this point 😣 just going to the N400 and hoping for the best.

When did you apply for 751? We applied Jan 2018

A little update. Since I sent a tax transcript for my N400 RFE on May 11 nothing was happening, so I decided to try to fix wrong resident since date on my GC because who knows when will be made decision on my N400 case, right?  I sent request on June 19 for typography error on I751, and today got this answer: "Thursday, June 27, 2019

USCIS has received your evidence for your application N-400.  A decision has not been made yet.  If USCIS needs any additional in formation we will notify you by mail."

Do I understand correctly they are not going to fix my GC but processing with my N400?
