Hi there!

I'm the applicant, I currently live in Singapore on a work visa but am a Russian citizen. Our case was just completed with NVC but we didn't get the interview date yet (i'm guessing it could be available any day now). The interview is to be scheduled in Singapore.

I'm having uncertainty with my visa status in Singapore and might not be able to get it sorted out. And if I do it might take longer than 2 months (expecting an interview within this time frame). I am considering changing the interview embassy from Singapore to Moscow.

Does anyone have experience with this? My main question is what would be a realistic timeline if i change the country while it is still with NVC? I read on VJ that if it is already at the embassy stage it might take months and will certainly delay the process significantly. I'm feeling pressure to act now (while it is still with NVC) to save time. Do you think that would work?

Thanks.

Hi,

I have change my embassy at NVC stage but this is prior to case complete. I waited for like 2 weeks for them to give me a new case number. So originally I was assigned in Manila Philippines. I would suggest to give them a call before they will schedule an interview and be in transit.  I have sent them email to make the change and my case was on hold as per the representative when I called NVC hotline 3 days after sending my request via email until I was given a new case number to proceed.

I have provided proof of residence attached in my email here in Singapore I believe you would need to send your passport copy and your work pass here which is about to expire.

I hope your request will be granted soon.

Hi, thanks a lot for your response!

So you emailed them requesting the embassy change and you were given a new case number in about 2 weeks, right? Did you need to request the address change as well (from Manila to Singapore, I'm assuming)?

The big question for me would be how long it will take for them to schedule the interview after the new case number is assigned. It sounds like for you that wasn't really an issue since you submitted everything before CC.

Yes two weeks from the time I sent them an email. Address changed can be done through phone its the embassy change that they need an email from you.

It wasn't an issue for me regarding the interview date since when I got CC my case number has been  changed to Singapore. It took them 2 weeks as well to send me an interview date after I got CC and only 4 days after receiving the interview letter my file showed IN Transit as status in ceac site. Maybe you can call them if they can actually give a time frame if you are to move it on different consulate now that its CC.

Hi there! I'll jump in since i'm in a similar situation. You mentioned that if the case still with NVC, the delay will be minimal.. What exactly is minimal approximately? They will forward the case to the new embassy and it should be fast? Thanks in advance.

Minimal means potentially no delay- they simply change the destination embassy in their system and when the case is ready, it gets sent there.

BTW, in future please make your own thread for your own case; policies can change and posting a question about your case in another member's thread can take attention away from their question.
