Can someone please let me know what "In-Line" means in the chart above?

My wife had her biometric appointment more than 6 months ago (filed in-400 in February 2017) and we have not received any notices nor has her online status changed. Should we have received an "In-Line" notification of some type?

It means that the applicant has beeb placed "in line" to schedule an interview. What is your local field office?

Our local field office is Washington DC (Fairfax VA).

After researching a bit last night, it seems that our online status should have changed to "In Line for An Interview" quite a while ago.  7 months is too long for that step.  I tried to submit a service request online, but was denied due to the N-400 processing time for that office still being November 2016, while we filed in February 2017.

We are planning on calling on Monday/Tuesday and then scheduling an infopass appointment if the call doesn't help.

Any other suggestions as to what to do?

Your case shouldn't be processing this long.

I suggest to:

(1) Call L2 officer.

(2) Contact your Congressman.

It alway seems to me that INFOPass appointment never helped.

Good luck!

Yeah, it sounds like we are in the same boat unfortunately.

Hopefully, it is just a case of the online status not updating properly, and the interview letter will be sent out without the online status changing first.  To be on the proactive side, I am going to give them a call this week and try to get to a level 2 officer to take a look.  Unfortunately, because the official field office processing date for Washington DC is still November 2016, I was unable to submit a service request online.  What is your office processing date?

It is weird that ALT office isn't following Priority Date. I guess she/he just got stuck on the background check and it needs to be pushed by a Congressman or Ombudsman.

Also applying to your case, I believe it is stuck.

ALT Office is processing case 1/2 month slower than our Office. My Office SF is processing case as same as yours, but it already scheduled some April Filers already.

Good luck to both of you.

Yes, the DC office has already given oath ceremonies to a number of cases that applied after me, according to member reports in the DC office thread.  I haven't even been updated to in-line to interview, so that is certainly concerning.

Thanks for the good luck.  I will add an update after I talk to the phone customer service this week.

Share your timeline so that people here can give proper estimates. It certainly looks like your file has not reached the local field office that conducts the interview. It is still sitting at the NBC office. General consensus is that if the case is in line for interview, then it means background checks are clear. Some people don't think its true.

So talk to a level 2 officer, ask him/her where the file is sitting and what the estimate of the actual interview date is. He/she may also say that you're background check is still pending. But i think its done and you just have to be little more patient. The entire N400 process can take upto a year.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, we will see what an L2 officer has to say.  Not much timeline to write:  Applied Feb 2017, went to Bio appointment in March.  No other changes to online status or snail mail letters since then.

Try and do an online e request for did not receive notice and not for outside processing times. This will be allowed even if you aren’t past processing times and can catch cases where it has been scheduled but the online update system hasn’t changed. My roc biometrics letter didn’t update and and others were getting theirs before me, I put this erequest in and got a reply with my biometrics notice attached a week or two later
