You're effectively delivering to a PO box, so USPS priority mail works well for that. Fedex and UPS don't deliver to PO boxes so they give you a different address to send to in the guidelines.

 

I used USPS and was very happy with how it went: you can track the package all the way from dropoff to someone picking it up from the lockbox. Unless anyone else can recommend why Fedex or UPS would be a better bet, I'd say USPS priority is hard to beat.

And I'm an idiot, because I sent two checks, so really hoping I don't get it sent back. Was thrown by this part on page 14 of the instructions : "Use the following guidelines when preparing your checks or money orders for the Form N-400 filing fee and biometric service fee." So I mailed 2 checks!

I hope they don't send your application back just because of the separate checks! You gave USCIS all the money it wanted.. Surely that's the important thing!

Mailed my application on Feb 6th by Fedex 2 days, and it was delivered on Feb 8th.  

 

NO email or text yet, but check was cashed on Feb 10th. 

 

Are they supposed to send TEXT or EMAIL?

Way back when I was farting around with USCIS, there was a form you could fill in to get electronic updates. This time, they have the online account thingymajiggy, and there was an option to fill in information about your account on the N-400. Maybe people getting sms/email updates had those accounts set up? I know that once you get your NOA, you can enter it on your account online and track it that way.

It's great to be on the final leg of this long -and sometimes hectic- journey. I am done with my application, but I am still waiting on the IRS to send me the tax return transcripts. Has anyone here filed without sending transcripts? It says in the instructions to include all other kinds of evidence if you don't send the tax transcripts. 

 

One more thing, I have filled the G-1145 form for the e-notifications. Has everyone else done that? I have been able to set up the online account, but couldn't find where to upload my N400 application. And should I be sending one check or separate checks for the application and biometrics?

Assuming you're filing under the 3 year/ marriage to a citizen, you'll need to send in either the transcripts OR proof of the intermingling of your finances and life. If you have copies of your actual return you can use these, plus everything else, but the transcripts don't take very long to arrive. I would wait for the transcripts, personally.

 

I think several people filled them out. I wasn't one of them because I completely forgot! lol It's less of a "gotta know now!" excitement kind of deal for me, so I'm fine with waiting for my NOA and then entering it on my online account for tracking. I've been able to see they received my package through the USPS tracking number and saw that they accepted it when my checks cleared. You're only supposed to send one for the total fee, but it's not a big deal if you send two. Mine cleared today.

How did I not know there was an G1145 form for E-notification?  Once I receive the NOA, i should be put the case number into the online system and track. Same as using G1145.

I am going to call my self a Feb Filer since I am on the cusp. n400  mailed Jan 30 2017. I did not sign up for texts. Checks were cashed on Feb 03. Just got my NOA this past Friday the 10th of February.

I should add that I got my Green Card May of 2005, yes I took my time :)
