Hey guys, I had my interview today, it went pretty well! i was interviewed but a very nice lady! She's stoped asking me questions after I got 6 right. I got recommended for approval

My wife had her interview on 1/25. She passed everything, but "a decision cannot yet be made" was checked. She is changing her middle name as part of the process, so I suspect that is the reason why since I believe a judge is required for that. Awaiting update from USCIS.

Congratulations!!! Mine is exactly a year. Originally, my oath was last month, but thanks to the inclement weather, the ceremony got cancelled.

As of today I am now a US citizen. It seemed so long ago when I started this journey to be finally at the finish line. Thanks to all that have posted on this site over the years. There was no way I would have been able to navigate the immigration system without the tremendous help this site has provided.

Hello, everyone! Yesterday was the day I have been waiting for! After a cancelled oath ceremony due to inclement weather, yesterday I was finally naturalized!! I am a US citizen!! It was such a great feeling and the weather couldn't have been more perfect! It was a short and sweet ceremony in an old courthouse building in Chattanooga TN with 37 applicants from 10 to maybe 15 different countries.The courtroom was full of proud families and friends. 

 

I am so happy its over and that I don't have to deal with USCIS anymore! Best of luck to those who are still waiting! :) <3

A little background: Had my interview back in July and was told decision cannot be made. Received an RFE mid-September to provide documents that my wife and I are living in marital union and submitted them in October. Didn't hear anything after that, and after a few calls, I was told my application was approved 10/28/17.

 

My appointment was 8 am this morning (I figured I'd go there before work) and after going through security, I was on the third floor at 7:50 - I found the floor basically empty (compared to being flooded with people waiting for their interviews). Took a number and was sitting in front of an officer in less than 10 minutes. Explained the situation and he looked up my case and said that my case was indeed approved, but since they have been splitting the offices of 26 Federal Plaza have been split, my file has been sitting on the supervisors desk (since the officer that interviewed me approved it) and it was just there collecting dust since they're behind on scheduling oath ceremonies.

 

He filed a request for me and in the description, he wrote "N400 approved. Schedule ASAP." and told that I should hear back within two weeks, and if I don't hear back in two weeks, I should come back to the same window (without an appointment) and see him and jokingly said, "This is called accountability!"

 

He, honestly, gave me a little ray of hope and I really hope that my status changes soon.

Following up on the attached post, I went to the USCIS office two days ago to meet the officer as he had told me to do so if I haven't heard in 3 weeks. 

 

Tuesday: I was there at 8 am and the officer was out on home visits, so I decided to go to the place where I had been interviewed and ask to speak to a supervisor where she told me that she doesn't have time to pull my file and see what's holding it back. I left and went back in the afternoon and asked for the officer I spoke to and he wasn't there again, so I decided to go to where I was interviewed and ask to see a supervisor (hoping there's another one on duty) and there was. He took my A-number and went to check and came back to say that my case is in the right place and everything looks good and that I should just wait for the final approval.

 

Wednesday: I was there at 8 am (AGAIN) and the officer was not in. Spoke to the officer that receives the InfoPass requests and she said the guy was out for home visits again.


Today: I was there at 8 am and the officer was out on home visits and I went to the same officer that receives the InfoPass appointments and told her I was there yesterday and the officer was not in either. There was another officer whose desk was behind her that overheard us and told me she wants to help me because she heard me there today and yesterday. I talked to her and explained the situation and she checked the computer and said that it's held back because my file is somewhere it is not supposed to be and that she will personally go take the file and move it to get this moving but it'll take a while and I should wait for her. An hour and a half later, she gave me the name of the Section Chief and told me to go upstairs to the NY Field Office and told them I spoke to the section chief and wait there. Lo and behold, 10 minutes after I got there, an officer came out and handed me my oath letter and told me congratulations.


So, my oath ceremony is scheduled for March 16th. 

My advice to anyone who is waiting is to always be up in their faces. Always show up and always push. My persistence for the last three days finally got my file moving that has been at a complete halt since October.

Today: I was there at 8 am and the officer was out on home visits and I went to the same officer that receives the InfoPass appointments and told her I was there yesterday and the officer was not in either. There was another officer whose desk was behind her that overheard us and told me she wants to help me because she heard me there today and yesterday. I talked to her and explained the situation and she checked the computer and said that it's held back because my file is somewhere it is not supposed to be and that she will personally go take the file and move it to get this moving but it'll take a while and I should wait for her. An hour and a half later, she gave me the name of the Section Chief and told me to go upstairs to the NY Field Office and told them I spoke to the section chief and wait there. Lo and behold, 10 minutes after I got there, an officer came out and handed me my oath letter and told me congratulations.


So, my oath ceremony is scheduled for March 16th. 

My advice to anyone who is waiting is to always be up in their faces. Always show up and always push. My persistence for the last three days finally got my file moving that has been at a complete halt since October.
