Thanks for responding . My letter arrived and doesn't mention tax transcripts  . Only asking for the letter , green card and passport .

Wondering if since im applying after 5 years with no spouse that will be all they need .

They can still ask for tax returns/transcripts. Take it with you. Nothing wrong in being over prepared.

As an update to our case, we called USCIS this week and spoke with a L2 officer.

 

He stated that the background check is still in progress at the national processing center.  He said that there are no Request for Information's or issues with the case, and that a large number of cases have been delayed in the background check phase this year. He said that we should wait it out, and call back in 30 days to see if there are any changes.  

 

Yeah, not much news , but at least we now now have official confirmation.

 

Timeline:

N-400 submitted Feb 2017 to Lewisville TX (DC field office)

NOA received Feb 2017

Fingerprint appointment letter received Feb 2017

Fingerprints taken March 2017

...no other changes online or via mail as of October 2017

Yeah, some real efficiency going on here.  

 

This case is for my wife who has no criminal background, has never traveled outside the US and EU, has been married for 13 years, has lived at the same address in the US for 10 years,  and is a 20th generation or something native of the EU by birth and nationality. It should not be a difficult background check at all, but alas here we wait.

Unfortunately nothing can be done until the background check comes back. Hang in there.

I am getting worried now . I filled at the end of February at dallas lock box.. did fingerprint in march and still waiting. Nothing so far. What do you all suggest.?  will it take time or I should call?

Give them a call.  That is the quickest way. Tell them you have not received your interview date notice and ask them why there is a delay.  Also ask them for an estimate of when your interview will be scheduled. 

 

If the first person you talk to (Level 1) does not give you the information you need, then ask to speak to a "Level 2 officer".  They have more information and can see your case details.  The L1 person has very limited information and has to transfer you if you need case details.  

 

You can also submit a service request online, but I recommend calling since the service request takes considerably longer to get an answer.  

 

Also, what is your local field office?
