Also for the extension to be valid for an employer, you have to show the NOA1 from your EAD renewal as well as the old EAD. I feel like the PDF is more geared towards helping employers understand how to accept the EAD extension since is explains how to match the original and renewal codes somehow and such. Just saving you from reading through it all to get that info :)

 

Still looking for anything that tells me my husband will be able to renew his driver license with this. Our state DMV cuts immigrants off when their card expires, so the DL expires that day as well. I'm hoping this means that he would be able to extend his DL by 180 days, too.

Filed stand alone i-130: January 2015 (VSC)

ICE home visit, schedule time to go to DHS office and NTA issued, date TBD, was not detained and released on own recognizance within an hour: January, 2015.

NOA1: Feb. 20, 2015.

Transfer to CSC to balance workloads: August 2015

1)First Master Calendar Hearing: Sept. 9, 2015-Continued based on pending i-130, new court date in 6mo.

Congressional Inquiry: Dec 8. 2015

***i-130 APPROVED WITHOUT INTERVIEW: Dec. 21, 2015** :dancing:

2)Second Master Hearing: March 9, 2016- Removal proceedings terminated w/o prejudice based on approved i-130!! Remanded to USCIS to begin AOS process :dance:

(AOS AFTER TERMINATION)

Filed AOS packet: March 16, 2016.

NOA1: March 21, 2016.

Biometrics: April 20, 2016.

RFE Initial evidence: April 21, 2016 for birth cert/translation and Q1/B1 i94s

RFE response received: May 10, 2016.

EAD approval: May 25, 2016- Card arrived at attorney's office! Could not pick up until May 30 because we were at Disney World again :):D

Notice of missing medical exam: July 2016 (Done on purpose to avoid expiration, we will bring it to the interview as stated in notice)

Inquiry about case status: Sept 2016- Case pending interview at local office.

Inquiry about case status again: Oct. 2016- Due to factors not related to your case, anticipate a delay in processing

Infopass #1 at local office: Dec. 19, 2016- Case pending background/security checks, advised when to renew EAD #2

Ofc, your NOA1 is the proof that you applied in time, which is the requirement.

A valid EAD is what you need for the DL if it's valid it's valid. but you might ofc run into the situation that they don't know that. I would bring information about it. :)

Our DMV just tends to be full of idiots which is why I worry. We were literally turned away at one and had to go to a DMV in a larger, farther away city to get them to issue his DL. Looks like we may go back to that one to be safe.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my small mind is completely overwhelmed (if not blown!) by this information. I can continue working for 180 days after my EAD expires if I filed for a new one already?

I'm F-1 student currently doing OPT, already applied for family based AOS. I can fill out I-9 and copy my NOA1and take that to my company's HR department, and based on that they won't have to terminate my employment? 

I may get a lottery ticket tonight, because I may be really really lucky today!

 

How did I not hear about it before? How did nobody on USCIS info line told me about it when I called twice to request my EAD to be expedited?

It will state all of those rules on the bottom left of your EAD NOA1. That will serve as the extension....but you have to have that paper NOA plus the expired EAD, so you're good to go. The 800 line sucks. There is a reason it's called the misinformation line. If you want to PM me, I'll send you the link that shows your employer how to fill out the i9 with expired EAD and NOA . Or you can google it. USCIS posted it on their main site as well :)
