Interestingly in August Trump included the Philippines among the list of "Terrorist Nations"

Wonder why he left them out of this ban?

There was actually someone arrested and jailed for terrorist plots who had immigrated from the Philippines. So actually maybe they should be added to the list?

Everyone wants to be kept safe, as long as it doesn't personally inconvenience them.

If you really took every country that a terrorist who carried out or plotted attacks in the US originated from, you would be including a lot of countries that don't fit in with the stereotypical "muslim enemy" agenda. United Kingdom would be on the list, the Phillipines, Australia and many others.

This has a decent list, though it focuses just on "attacks", and not on planning. The person arrested from the Phillipines was planning terror related attacks so they are not listed there. If you were to include every country where someone who was involved in foreign terror attacks, or helping finance/plan attacks, the list would be even longer. It's just not an effective plan to "pick and choose" whichever countries are "politically easier" to put a ban on. It doesn't actually solve the problem, and it goes against the core values of America.

EDIT: Actually the person from the Phillipines may not be listed because he was in 2015 and the data says it goes up to 2015, so maybe it doesn't include him.

But do you support the ham-fisted way it was amatirishly implemented and the fact that numerous members of Trumps inner circle, and Trump himself have indicated that it is his promised Muslim Ban and the intentions behind is to clearly intend to favor one religion over another which it plans to descriminate against? That is really the question.

I would tend to agree, the world has changed a lot very quickly and the trope of multiculturalism, which has never worked anywhere at any time, will have horrific consequences.

The number of people on the move will increase dramatically, the numbers now are miniscule compared to what is to come. Totally irrational to believe that somehow their belief systems will be left behind.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

disagree-multiculturalism doesn't work anywhere.

refugee belief systems are not the issue. the issue is the constant creation of refugees.

I can not think of anywhere it has worked.

How can there not be an increase in refugees from one cause or another?

The big difference is the relative ease and cost of travelling long distances.

well what's your definition of 'worked'

it's about taking care of the refugees created (as opposed to demonizing and banning them)

you would think, with the relative ease of travel and ridiculous abundance of wealth on this planet, the task would be simpler.

Show me some facts on who said this because I have not seen any facts saying it is a "Muslim ban". But I have seen and read the actual order did you? It talks about prioritizing refugees as being "Religious Minorities of the country of their nationality". This could mean Christians, Shia/Sufi, or Buddhists. Trump has said repeatedly that this is not a Muslim Ban and no where in the order does it say that. If it was a Muslim ban then they left a fair amount of Muslim Majority countries off the ban didn't they? Also you have rulers of other countries in the Middle East and who are Muslims coming out now saying that this is NOT A BAN ON MUSLIMS.

I do agree with you in part of there should have been some guidance on the order when it came out. It was too broad in the beginning so that is why some clarification was needed and has been brought down now.

Because I believe the Philippines is not on the list and other countries that are Muslim are not on the list because they are actually trying to deal with the problems they have with extremists. While a majority of the countries on the list are either halfway ran by extremists or give support to Muslim extremists.

no australia, us, canada? all three look after their own to various degrees. i'm not arguing we should be coddling domestic terrorists, just saying pay attention dem white boys are angry and they've got lots of 'toys'. folks who buy into the gumball nonsense nb posted don't have a sense of responsibility toward refugees because they believe by default their lives are of more value.

Christians, Jews, and other ethnic minorities in these countries still cannot enter the USA due to the ban. Furthermore, if they are already here and seeking to adjust status, ROC, or file citizenship their application will be put on hold and likely rejected indefinitely. When Trump talks about minorities, he's trying to appease a certain group to wrap it up in a pretty package and make things seem nicer. It's not. A ban is a ban. There is no other option for these people. Meanwhile their very lives are at stake..
