Hello SME's,

 

We are currently in the ROC phase and want to plan out her citizenship path.  I understand she can apply 90 days before her 3 year GC anniversary.  I also see it is taking about 7-8 months before getting to the interview.  She is anxious because our son (my stepson) is now 16 and we wanted him to gain citizenship through her. 

 

So Her GC issue date is 3/9/15

 

She can apply via N400 in January 2018, 3/9 - 90 days.

 

The stepson would turn 18 on May 2, 2018.

 

So unless processing times speed up dramatically our son will age out before she gets to take the oath.

 

Is there anything we can do?

Assuming he's already an LPR then worst-case scenario he can apply for citizenship himself using an N-400 after he's been an LPR for five years.

If your wife's GC date is 03/09/2015, she can apply as early as 12/09/2017 according to the USCIS Early Filing Calculator:

Keep all documents and application ready, apply as soon as she is eligible and hope for the best.

Now that I see my math was wrong, calculating application date.  Thank you VJ experts!  I have checked some Portland processing times and they seem fairly quick.  We may be able to get her oath done before May 2.
