Everyone's timeline is different, even if they got the NOS around the same date. I don't understand why that is.

My package was completed July 11 and DOS sent the recommendation July 20. But I had started my application back in March.

I see. I am just nervous when i see people get it in 6 weeks. I feel smt is wrong. I guess i think too much

Applications at the DOS can take very long... I filed mid last year (NOS, Fulbright with government funding, not in the US) but got a favorable recommendation two weeks ago.

Does anyone have a recent timeline on USCIS responses? My lawyer says typically 4 months but I was wondering if someone has a more updated experience.

Thanks

Congrats! There are almost no people with Fulbright who get the favorable waiver. Can you tell us a bit about your program and reason to get the waiver? Also, how long did you "serve" out of the 2 year requirement?

The question is, how much time until I heard from USCIS? Do I need to make anything or just wait?

you should get a notice with a receipt number in around 15 days..

Then is uncertain how long until you get the approval..

some people in July got it within a week or month.. but it seems like they are back to "normal" processing times which it could be anytime up to 4 months.. (based on other people who still haven't gotten their approval and received Recommendation in August..)

If you haven't gotten anything in a month call USCIS and ask for a receipt number and info on your case (calling before the month is up is a waste of time.. I tried)

Interesting. I have applied for a J-1 Waiver back in the fall last year, and it's still pending.

I had government funds involved, and applied on the basis of No Objection as well.

Congrats on a favorable recommendation!

Hi, It seems we are on the same boat. I did an Exchange Short-term Scholar with the National Park Service as a graduate student. Even though I have been outside the US since 2013, I am still subject due to partial US government fund. The program was Volunteers In Parks (VIP). I do not understand what exactly means the last two steps "Request for Sponsor Views-Sent" and the "Other-Received"..Any idea where exactly I am at regarding the final decision?

Thanks

They ask the agency that funded you their opinion for giving out the waiver.

So they requested the views, but the opinion is not back. If you have a way of contacting them (National Park Service), I would do it because (1) they might not have realized they have to answer the request, (2) they might have answered it and DOS didn't get it.

I had this issue with another agency. They sent the opinion but the waiver division didn't get it, and I wasted 2 months until I was able to contact the sponsor and they said they had already sent their views. So I had to ask them to send them again.
