Hi VJ

I am posting now from my home in San Francisco . It was a very tiring and painful experience . we arrived at SFC  airport on 26 just a day before signing the executive order . They took my sealed package and passport and kept me for 5 hours and a half . Asking me where I was born , then of my both parents , my job in Egypt although all these information were there already . than I was asked to wait till they get an a reply , a reply means an order whether to let me in or send me back . and after waiting for long they gave us our passport and said OK you can go and collect your baggage , but I noticed that the stamp in my passport is faded and the term admitted is not there , while it is very clear in my kids passports , and inside the stamp the officer wrote IR1  D/S

I don't know what D/S means . Now after what happened the next day of preventing even GC holders from entering the country I am not sure whether I will get my green card or not  or even my social security.

Don't worry. If you paid the Green Card fee online then you will get the card. There should have been instructions included when you got your passport back from the embassy on how to pay.

As for your social security, you might not get that but then that happens to a lot of people due to the system being a bit rubbish. I would wait a couple of weeks for your details to be uploaded to the SAVE system, then go to your local Social Security Administration office and apply in person. Take your stamped passport with you and if they give you grief, ask for a supervisor or go to another office. When I got mine done, the woman tried telling me the stamped passport wasn't the equivalent of a Green Card (it really is lol).

I'm not sure why you had D/S written on there. Those are usually for student or seasonal work visas and indicate that you can only stay as long as your program lasts for (that's what I gathered from Googling, someone else might have more info on what it means). You're a permanent resident now and you're in the US. Unless they start going around deporting legal residents who are in the country, you have nothing to worry about now.

I'm really sorry you went through such an arduous process after waiting so long for your visa, but I hope it will all be uphill from here.

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Happy you made it okay :) You shouldn't worry about the D/S.

"On the admission stamp or paper Form I-94, the U.S. immigration inspector records either an admitted-until date or "D/S" (duration of status). If your admission stamp or paper Form I-94 contains a specific date, then that is the date by which you must leave the United State. If you have D/S on your admission stamp or paper Form I-94, you may remain in the United States as long as you continue your course of studies, remain in your exchange program, or qualifying employment. The admitted-until date or D/S notation, shown on your admission stamp or paper Form I-94 is the official record of your authorized length of stay in the United States. You cannot use the visa expiration date in determining or referring to your permitted length of stay in the United States."

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/general/visa-expiration-date.html

It just means that your Duration of Status is in accordance of regulations for IR1. There is no real time limit for which you are admitted so I would assume they can't write a date.

Try to relax a bit and be happy you are here and everything went well. Enjoy your family :) Good Luck

Because of what is going on and people with green card were sent home or stopped from getting on a plane really scared me , I can not imagine after 18 months of waiting to join my husband then I find myself out of the country after giving away everything in my homeland : car , house , job ....

I already paid for the green card before travelingto USA.

The visa itself is a temporary GC valid for one year .the stamp is just a proof that you entered the country.

We will find out soon what politics do to us. Very bad indeed and very disappointed to have that feeling the moment you stepped in American soil

As an Egyptian passport holder, kareelina is not subject to the Executive Order ban.  Anyone entering the US, including US citizens, are subject to discretionary questioning by the CBP; some more than others.

Everyone entering on a visa type, whether IR, CR, K-1, all go through their own type of questioning. The order hadn't been signed so even if that order didn't exist, seems you would have gone through same thing regardless because that is how immigrations works. My partner, didn't get grilled or anything; but waiting and took him 2-3 hours in Dallas, was one of the last people from his flight that got through finally. Glad you made it through though.

Oh, agree with the first part. Not quite sure how a USC would fare not answering their questions though.

You might not answer questions but USCIS can certainly hold you for 48hrs without cause.

Better to cooperate less hassle in the long run.
