Hawaii is a state!!!! Dont give her sich bad advice...i would avoid houston and anywhere closr to the mexican border but u will be fine! I went to hawaii out of status. My frirnd from brazil did last week who is covered in tattoos lol i have never heard of someone having a problem!!! Agents are concerned about the southern border not people gping to hawaii on a vacation! It is no different then flying to Chicago, nyc ect

Ok.... she is absolutely not going though international zone and us customs and border protection (whatever they called in the airports? i forgot) when flying from Hawaii to LAX and the other way around.... yes there could be random checks but they could be anywhere, even on a bus going from one state to another.

her profile showed a K1        anyways..... best she don't do this trip,  No telling what is coming next.

 

as for not asking for visa, I was asked to see my passport on a domestic flight by CBP roaming around the airport , random check.  

You never know when one will be asked.

The political climate is changing and you are taking a risk.
My husband and I traveled domestic and he was singled out of the line and asked if he is a USC. He said no he is pending AOS.
The agent then asked to show him  papers that he has legal status. We traveled with state ID, DL, passort, marriage certificate and EAD/AP

combo card. This was 2 months ago.

DO NOT DO IT.

I was just going to say this.  Just because your flying domestic doesn't mean they can't ask for proof of status.  We are traveling south in March.  My husband and I just discussed bringing his NOA1 and a copy of our marriage certificate.  Better safe than sorry.

What airport was it? Was it close to southern border? Because Caliliving is right, there are more checkpoints there than anywhere else.

I have never travelled domestically on a passport.. TSA is there to check that your name matches that name on your ID/ticket and it is the correct person boarding.. i have travelled on my canadian driver license and never had a problem (or my US driver license). 

 

if you are from one of the 7 banned countries then i would be a little more worried about traveling, but if not i would say you are ok just as long as you stay domestically. i would also worry about going near the mexico border at this time.

It was just an example from real life, supposed to serve as a proof... well kind of. But we don't even have to consider this example. The point is, she is not going through immigration check, thats a 100% true, but of course she can have problems anywhere since she has no status.

The interesting thing about Hawaii.... sometimes they still make you go through customs.  My husband, when flying from Guam (which is a US territory) had to recheck his baggage and go through customs and immigration before hitting the mainland every time. As a Canadian, Ive had to go through it both times Ive gone, even though my next flight was landing in Seattle and Portland before heading to Canada.  So yes, it's a US State and is zero issue for people with legal presence, citizenship, or simple tourists. But, like airports close to the border, cbp make their presence known.

Just don't risk it, wait until you've at least filed for AOS and you've got an NOA for it.

 

Even for domestic flights, CBP could still do random spot-checks just for looking at them wrong, and your NOA is proof that you're here legally. Better to be over-prepared than to be caught with your pants down. Besides, then you'll have filing for AOS out of the way!

Guam is different though. I have AOS pending and i wouldn't go there without re-entry permit. Hawaii is a state, and Guam is a territory, not a state. 
US citizens go to hawaii all the time without passports. How would they prove that they are citizens?

My husband was singled out on a domestic flight from Vegas,  so it does happen, and luckily we had the documents to prove AOS was filed, along showing them his EAD card.
