Indeed is a super resource.  I set up an alert so that, every morning when I woke up, there was an email in my inbox of jobs that met my requirements.  Getting that email gave me a renewed sense of purpose each day to just keep on trying.  I'd spend the morning preparing applications, following up on applications and trawling through LinkedIn.  Even when I was at my lowest, that routine did me the world of good because I felt like I was giving it my best shot.  It also kept me disciplined and focused.

Did you change your CV into an American style resume?

Have you looked into supplementing your pharmacist degree here in the US? I assume you'd need some kind of license to work as a pharmacist here?!

You say you have six years work experience. In what field/s?

You're not putting any personal information in the resume like age and stuff?

Yes, my husband actually help me make my resume. We used to put my picture there but now we take it off. Im not sure if the picture help or not.

I feel exactly the same way. I've been here for almost a month and it's already driving me crazy :crying: I used to have a crazy work schedule as well, I didn't even like my job that much but I'm kinda missing it now. The only things I do here are just cooking, cleaning, sleeping, watching movies and waiting for my husband to come from work. It's still hard to adapt with things since I feel so alone, hopeless, worthless and depressed.

Omg! I feel the same exact way!! I know i dont come here for a job, i come here to be with my husband, but still i feel unwanted and worthless (not by my husband)

No picture on the actual resume.  It's worth it to get a us company to look over your resume too.  Monster has a service that does this.

That's weird, Delta is based in Atlanta so they should have more openings there. I'm gonna be based here in DFW and I live just next to the airport so it's perfect. Keep trying as they will update their jobs availability every other week.

My advice for those who have trouble finding a job is to get a low paying job in retail, fastfood etc once you get your EAD. Why do i say this because you likely have no job experience here so its better to have some then none! You dont have to work at McDonalds mind you but say Starbucks or Target etc. This will get you out of the house, earning money and you can improve your self worth. Also a bit of advice for those who are from Indonesia. As @usmsbow has stated the Indonesian degree holds little to no weight here. This is common for many third world countries. If you live in a area like Los Angeles or San Francisco I would suggest going to to an Adult school (most major cities have them) and get a vocational certificate in something that will make you employable here. Go to school concurently with your part time job until you finish the program and adjust your resume and start looking for a better job.

Easiest way to find a job is through personal contacts. Welcome to the USA. There is very high real unemployment now. It is almost impossible to get a job from sending out resumes.

Not really. Its 2017 the unemployment rate is also low.

Just a hint about resumes: when you apply for a position don't use same resume and cover letter all over again. You have to tailor both for a specific position that you apply for! Use words, phrases that they are looking for.

A lot of resumes are first going through a automated system that is looking for a specific words. That's how you 'collect' points. If your resume is not tailored for the particular position it can be easily overlooked;)

Also if it's not required (99% is not) don't use photo or mention age, race itd...

Hi, i am an immigrant from indonesia. I have my EAD and relocated to the US (baton rouge) on June 2016. I speak and write decent english, have college degree (pharmacy) and 6 years of work experiences. I have been trying to find a job here, applying to almost anything in my capabilities, (from store clerk to medical sales) but have no luck. I must have appplied over 100 jobs but only called for 2 interviews.

I am getting crazy, i used to work almost 50 hours a week and now feel desprately useless and unwanted.

Any advice or tips? Any other immigrant feel the same way?

I felt the same way when I first arrived. In Canada, when you apply for a job it's much less competitive. There are so many more jobs back home. Here in the U.S. it's a VERY competitive market. Each job you apply to probably has 50+ applicants each. I think you English ability might be why you aren't having much luck. There could be other applicants with just as much experience, but they can write clear English. I've learned that in the U.S. employers can be very prejudiced, and they want the BEST of the BEST. If they have to throw away 50 applications to wait for the PERFECT candidate to come along, they will. I had to work in terrible job situations until I realized that I had to put more effort into a job application / resume / cover letter than I ever had to before in my entire life. Welcome to America.... lol.

Yes, I feel that way too. You  always have to be the best when it comes to employment, and even that isn't usually good enough.
