Does USCIS give you an estimated time at any point?

My K1 visa application for my Ukrainian fiance was accepted on January 24. I received a receipt number via email and am able to check to see that it was received. People keep asking me, how long will it take before she will get here? I always answer, probably 2-9 months. Will I ever know? In other words, will USCIS ever say, you're case will likely be processed by **/**/****? Or do they just notify you out of the blue that it is time for her to get her medical certification and go to the embassy for an interview?

I hope this question makes sense. I did search, but I'll admit I could have tried a little harder. :)

Hey, congrats on starting the journey! Unfortunately, you will never really know or have a solid idea- USCIS will not give you estimates, although it would make the waiting game so much easier if they did! You can check your case status online to see if it changes to approved, but that's about it. As a heads up, I never received a text/email for NOA 2, so if I hadn't been checking online, I wouldn't have known until the hardcopy arrived in the mail

My suggestion on estimating a time is to join a filing group on here for January filers. That way you can view when others who submitted their K-1's receive updates on their cases, which can help you guess a bit for your own approvals, such as for NOA 2, NVC, etc. Plus it's helpful to be able to ask questions/interact with others who are at similar stages of the process. Hope that answers your question! This website also 'guesses' your processing times based on other users who update their timelines. It's not anything to go by religiously, but it can help give you a rough estimate.

You can track your status using your NOA1's receipt number. You can also download the iOS or Android mobile apps to get an alert when there's a change in status.

Processing times vary heavily based on the facts of your individual case. That said, 2 months - barring multiple expedite requests - is almost guaranteed not to happen. Assuming you're a January filer, I would guestimate that it will take anywhere from 6-12 months at this point from filing to visa-in-hand. There's a huge backlog from late Oct. and early + mid Nov still being processed now. I filed Dec. 1st and probably won't hear back on the NOA2 for another month or 2. Check my signature for data on processing stats per day for Oct. 31st through early Dec. filers. There's also the stats here (http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1historical), but honestly they are lagging a bit right now due to the holiday slowdowns.

After NOA2, it'll be probably 30-40 days for NVC processing. Then it's off the embassy, which can take a couple/few months or longer depending on the specific embassy and circumstances.

Patience is a virtue. It's also a requirement for immigraiton. :) Best wishes.

Thank you. Very helpful. The members of this forum are so polite. I've been a member of many other forums, mostly automotive, and there are generally far more haters than polite people!

How do you join a filing group?
