***Mods help me put this in the right forum pls, I wasn't sure***

Hey y'all, so I just got my NOA1 and I know I have about 3 months before I get my EAD but when exactly should I drop out of my F1 status? I don't want to be in violation of my status when I take off-campus employment after I get my EAD. When I talked with my international advisor at school they said to just bring in the NOA and they could terminate my SEVIS profile with an annotation saying AOS pending so it doesn't raise any flags and it should be fine, but I wanted to check... Should I wait to get my EAD and take employment to do that or should I just take the NOA to them right away?

You'll have to be more specific with what you're asking. bunkx. I think I get the gist but you should provide more details.

Your EAD grants permission to work for 1yr and it will not restrict you to only working on campus. I don't believe your F1 status will be in jeopardy if you work outside of campus.

Good luck with your AOS

Have you graduated? Your F-1 is probably "D/S" (duration of status), this means it automatically expires the day of graduation. If you have an F-1 related OPT EAD, then I guess you should talk with the international office of your university and let them know that you got a new one based on AOS. If your AOS goes through before your graduation, you will present your I-551 (green card) to your international office and they will do what's necessary for your SEVIS record termination.
