Green card holders cant travel??

Im so scared I have an upcoming international vacation booked I'm I not allowed back in with my Green card??? CNN are stating green card holders not to travel :/

Far as I have seen and read it only applied to people of certain nationalities(iranians, syrian, ect.)

I know it only applies to certain countries, but if anyone from besides those countries and having the LPR status gets detained... Please let everyone know. I'm traveling to Europe in couple of months and even though I'm from central Europe, I'm scared anyway.

I have this friend and shes from Brazil when her and her husband came to visit her family here she told that she needed to request a permission to leave USA, kind of a letter saying you were ok to travel anc come back.

Please do not scare people with incomplete hear-say stories. Your Brazilian friend was not allowed to leave the US? The US does not care who leaves - you can leave any time. The question is on coming back. This requires either a Green Card (and due to the Trumpisms going on not being Syrian, Somalian etc for the next 90d) or an AP travel document.

 

Another story floating around on VJ is that some Brazilian airport officials are uninformed and request GC/AP holders to provide "transportation letters" - this has nothing to do with the US.

 

Bottom line, with our current knowledge, unless you are from one of the 7 countries, you are good. I am slated to travel to Europe next month, and I will go.

As far as im aware the changes Trump is making will not be affecting the UK, but the 7 countries mentioned. I too am going back to England in September for 10 days. I don't think we are on Trumps hit list or radar in any way shape or form unless we hear concrete evidence in the mean time.

My two cents, don't travel unless you need to. If there is a terrorist attack in your country, and he decides to ban your nationality temporarily, you won't be able to enter.

My 2 cents: this was ill thought through and badly executed.

 

I suspect that, particularly with regard to green card holders, over the next few days, they will be allowed back in.  People who have built lives, own homes, own cars, have kids in school not being allowed back in when there is no proof of them posing a danger?  The uproar will be overwhelming and compelling.

 

I was all for stronger borders (having come from a country that has highly secure borders and knowing that such a system works) but this really disturbs me on a deep level.  Go ahead and strengthen vetting but don't target all with a broad brush for the sins of a few.

Two days ago, we didn't think Trump's view on immigration would effect current green card holders and look what's happening now. He's already said there's more to come and they're even reviewing the VWP, so who knows what's gonna happen. It's probably a good idea to stay put in the US for the time being, unless you have to travel.

I agree. I feel like they will quickly reverse the order on current green card holders. I doubt they will reverse the issue regarding new visas though. 

 

Either way the green card holders need to be let back home where they belong.

My husband has just seen of fox13 news that people from the 7 countries are no longer eligible to receive visa's to the united states. Not sure how true this is, but that's the latest update he has seen

I think you'll be fine, seems that only those with GC's from the currently banned countries are experiencing difficulties entering the U.S again. 

 

It wouldn't make sense IMO that tourists are able to enter the U.S daily (I haven't ready anything saying tourists from countries not on the list are being denied entry today) and those who live here on visas would be unable to, which makes me think it's exclusive to the 90 day ban countries and those from said countries who have GC's & visas.
