Even if it's only ever limited to these 7 countries, these are people who LIVE HERE! Imagine one day you come home and some government agent is outside and won't let you in. He won't let you go to work either. You have to leave. Just because. Now where do you go? You probably tied up loose ends back home. Maybe if your parents are alive they'll take you in?

Are we already headed down that path..?

I'm glad to see that people and lawyers are ALREADY preparing law suits. Keep it up!

You know what's the worst thing? The fear.

You read that the ban only affects Muslim countries. But... how can we even be sure? I'm a green card holder, I was planning to go to Poland in about a month (first trip in almost 3 years) but now I'm scared.

It will affect anyone who's been to any of the seven countries on the list, for now... One of the people held at JFK were from Sweden. He's probably an Iraqi national with Swedish citizenship.

Advice: It would be wise for any LPR who is eligible to apply for citizenship to do so IMMEDIATELY. Forget the 10-year green card "slow route" to citizenship! Citizenship may be the only safety. Do it now while you can.

Also, giving up dual citizenship to the so-called dangerous countries would be wise. At one time, the US demanded this, and it could easily do it again.

Couldn't edit my last reply to this....

I read a news article about it and it doesn't seem like he was from Sweden. It just says he traveled from Sweden. Details were very vague. But it didn't sound like he was a Swedish citizen.

From what has been reported so far, GC holders of the 7 affected countries will need to obtain a waiver. This should grant them re-entry with a GC. Best bet is to check the USCIS website in addition to contacting legal assistance. Best of luck!

There is nothing on the USCIS website about this. Actually, they just extended TPS for Somalis. Oh, the irony.
