Hi all at Visa Journey,

I wonder if you could help? I had my green card stolen at Minneapolis St Paul Airport last Saturday 21 January 2017, on my way back to the UK via Newark. I had to fly back to visit my father who is in the advanced stages of cancer. I have reported the card stolen to MSP Airport Police, Customs and TSA, all of whom have been very helpful. I believe that once I return to Minnesota, I have to file an I-90 and wait 2-6 months (approx.) for a replacement card. My concern is travelling back to the US without my Green Card. I first entered the US on June 18 2016 as a new LPR, my CR1 visa small print states that upon endorsement the visa serves as a temporary I-551 evidencing permanent residence for one year. Will this document be sufficient to pass through customs at POE? Or will I be required to request a transportation letter from the US Embassy in London? Or will I be required to submit a form I-131A at the cost of $575? Thank you for and help and assistance you can give me, this has been a difficult week.

You can use the stamped immigrant visa as it is still within the one year BUT file for I90 now as CBP will want to see you have filed it before they let you in (online filing which you should do will get you receipt fast - print it and bring with you).
