I have applied my ssn before when i was in the US, and now while I am filling with DS-260 form, the last page question is about  Do you need a new card issued?

What should I choose? Yes or No?

If I fill yes, will the SSA issue a new card with a new SSN on it? I don't want a new number which will cause lots of problems on my credit record or something like that with my old one.

Thanks in advance.

hi

exactly, a person can only have one number in a lifetime

once you're here you can go to an office and change the card, they will give you a new card, with the same number

so the answer is no, because you already have a ss card and number

wow thank you so much, but I saw a little tips on the right-hand of the DS-260 page, it is said that "

Help: Social Security Card Issuance

Please note that you must answer Yes to the Consent to Disclose question that follows in order for a Social Security Number and Card to be issued.

"

Does it mean that I have to chose yes in card issue question?

If you have a SSN then it will be no. When you get a GC go to SSA and update them so they can remove restrictions off your card.

Thank you very much

I almost chose yes in this filed

hi

no, it's saying you must choose yes if you need a new number and card to be issued

you don't need a social security number, you already have a number

once you are here, you can change the card, not the number
