I'm just starting the K-1 process with my fiance from Egypt, but today's news (Friday 1/27/17) about Trump's new immigration executive orders has me wondering if all MENA countries visa processing/interviewing are now going to be severely affected, not just the banning of the 7 main countries on the hot list (Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Somalia & Yemen).

I mean, they already do extensive background checks during the immigrant visa process, what else could they possibly check that they don't already?

I know we just have to wait for specific facts or rules to be announced, but is anyone else concerned that all MENA countries' visa applications are going to get really slowed down or even suspended?

You should continue with the K-1 process as Egypt will not be effected by this EO. I just spoke to a rep at the NVC tonight and asked her if my case for my husband's IR-1 would be delayed due to my husband being from a MENA country. She said absolutely not, and that they will continue to process all other cases as normal as long as our case was not under the 7 countries mentioned in the EO. She said we're fine.

I understand that you're worried, and trust me I too keep feeling the same time to time with all that's buzzing around in the media and social media, but we have to stay positive and continue.

I wish you best of luck with your journey. :)

Thanks for sharing your conversation with NVC, Amy, i really hope that information stays true for all of us!  I feel bad for anyone applying from one of the banned countries, though.  All the best for you both. :)

No mention for Egypt.everyone should continue paper work or start as faster they can. He intends to make vettting immigration longer and harder on all countries. That might make the process longer anyways Egypt is not effected now. Good luck everyone.

...And if those of us who are USCs get active politically, that could help, too! Just "hoping" he won't add more countries will not get congress to act to hold him back!

****** Closed as we have two Megathreads to discuss Trump and his administration's effects on immigration.  Best suited for this discussion is probably the "speculation on future policies" thread here:

but there is also the megathread on his already published and verified policies here:
