I'm afraid you're going to have to be much more specific and then maybe we can help you. Will 700.00 be enough of a budget for WHAT, exactly?

Also, budgets are very subjective....what you may consider enough, I may not and vice versa, etc. What exactly are you trying to determine, is the main thing.... :) M.

Posting this in the regional specific area might be a bit more productive! I know there are a lot of people from everywhere that read here as well...but still...

Good luck in finding your answer!

Mai and I are spending about 500 for an entire month at a hotel in Manila. I can't imagine why 700 wouldnt be enough for you. But it's always good to plan ahead for anything that may come up, take more to play it safe.

Keep in mind that medical exam and visa application fee alone are almost $200 USD. If you stay in a pension house and eat light, I think its ok. IF you stay in a hotel for a week and eat restaurant meals every day....I think it will be too little. If that is supposed to include travel expense....might be a bit tight too. As has been said...take more if you can. Better to have a little extra than a little short.

JUST AN OPINION

let's see.. if i'm the one on your situation I'll write it down this way:

imagine you are in manila get a hotel for like P2thousand/day i heard there is one for about 1200 so if that ok with you, you could get it walking distance from St. Lukes times 8 days to have an extra day to relax and breathe after all those things, if you eat on fast food not so expensive places, 700/day would just be enough but what if you want to go to the mall and might want to buy something its tempting you know so average of P1thou/day for food and misc.. that is if you are thrifty and conservative type

700usd X 48 exchange rate = P33,600

less 1200 at the least hotel expense for 8days = 9,600

less food and misc expenses for 8 days = 8,000

less medical fee which is around = 4,700

VISA fee = 4,900

you still have >>>>>> 8,800

the fares to Manila is not included yet, depends on where you are coming from. what if you don't get a hotel at that cost then you will need more, YOU have to carefully plan it, book a hotel prior to your coming its important because you dont know if you could get a nice place to stay after a long travel the first thing you want to do is rest. there are lots of small hotels near st. luke's, walking distance and also to the US embassy

or to simply put it LIST DOWN all the possible expenses you may have while in Manila you are the one who knows how to manage your money. and less from the available budget, you will know if you need more. But always bring extra. Hope that gives you an idea.

(Hmm, tama ba kwenta ko paki-calculator n nga lang ulit :lol:)

I forgot to mention some hotels may require a refundable deposit that needs to be paid up front. You may want to inquire about that where your staying.

My wife and her Mother spent a week at the Bayview which is a pretty nice hotel across the street from the embassy and the bill was less than $200. Of course that was two years ago so the prices might have increased a little. If you watch your expenses $700 should be just fine for the week. Good luck!

One note, I think 700 on paper sounds good, but it would be easy to go over that. My two trips last year were around p1300 to p1440/night but that may be less depending where you go....one thing to definately remember is to save money for the airport departure. That is around p750.

If you are going for the embassy interview/medical I would assume you have been there before?
