LOL 7 pages of arguing whether they were Swedish or Iranian.

Of course they were Iranian students. Why should you even mention that  they were studying in Sweden?  It is inconsequential to the whole story. Unless being enrolled in a Swedish university conveys some extra immigration benefits I don't know about.

Idk what "it" you're talking about, it's what I wrote in my original post.

There is no arguing about whether they are Swedish or Irani... the argument was about my wording "Swedish PhD student with Irani passport." Swedish PhD student" is not equal to "Swedish"... and with Irani passport is definitely not equal to. I'm not gonna keep explaining smth that is clear simply by reading.

It makes total sense since I got the information from Swedish sources. I was using it as ONE example to show that the wrong ppl are being targeted by this blanket bar. I also do not understand why it hurts ppl's eyes so much. But I will not roll over and play dead when my full intentions and all information was clear from my original post. Why should I let ppl twist my words into meaning something that it does not or to extrapolate to fake news, which was assumed immidiately.

Exactly.  The article called them sweedish PhD students , which is completely false.  The media is dishonest

What was said was they were Swedish PHD students "TRAVELING ON IRANIAN PASSPORTS.  It was being used to try and show the wrong people are being detained, glad you admitted why it was misleading and what you were trying to accomplishow  with the misleading statement.  Once again total dishonesty.

They were studying in Sweden (swedish PhD students) and they travelled on Iranian visas (Iranian nationals). What part of that is so hard to understand? What part is dishonest?

might i suggest reading this before being overcome by outrage?

Quote

According to the draft copy of Trump's executive order, the countries whose citizens are barred entirely from entering the United States is based on a bill that Obama signed into law in December 2015.

Obama signed the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act as part of an omnibus spending bill. The legislation restricted access to the Visa Waiver Program, which allows citizens from 38 countries who are visiting the United States for less than 90 days to enter without a visa.

Though outside groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union and NIAC Action — the sister organization of the National Iranian American Council — opposed the act, the bipartisan bill passed through Congress with little pushback.

At the initial signing of the restrictions, foreigners who would normally be deemed eligible for a visa waiver were denied if they had visited Iran, Syria, Sudan or Iraq in the past five years or held dual citizenship from one of those countries.

In February 2016, the Obama administration added Libya, Somali and Yemen to the list of countries one could not have visited — but allowed dual citizens of those countries who had not traveled there access to the Visa Waiver Program. Dual citizens of Syria, Sudan, Iraq and Iran are still ineligible, however.

So, in a nutshell, Obama restricted visa waivers for those seven Muslim-majority countries — Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Libya and Yemen — and now, Trump is looking to bar immigration and visitors from the same list of countries.

And? Is that supposed to solve the current crisis or make everyone feel better?

You know full well that what it actually is referencing is the fact that when you answered ''have I been to X'' country on that particular list on the ESTA, that the person couldn't use the VWP. Okay. But that didn't BAR the person from the country. They could try for a visit visa or any other visa they were qualified for in their situation. Furthermore, it certainly didn't affect LPRs, which in this current situation is gross and indefensible behavior on the part of our government. Oh he used a comparable ''list''? Oh okay. That makes it so alright then.

Why are you focusing on the description of the noun instead of the noun when the sentence is about the noun!?

Focus on what's described. All information was there. Now give it a rest.

Where are Swiss watches made?  Pakistan or Switzerland?

(and technically, I think PhD would be the adjective for the noun student)

no.. PhD is not an adjective... Phd student is one...

It's abundantly clear to me, that you neither of you want to take in what's being said.. so there is no point in repeating all the logical arguments laid out in front of you...

and where is the PhD made?? I'm done with the discussion, keep hashing it if you want to.
