Any idea how long does it usually take at NVC to process cases?

I hope things advance fast for you ☺

Thank you :)

Well from the moment you get your scan date (which is when you submit your IV & AOS supporting documents; and NVC receives them into their database), you have up to 8 weeks for the review of your case (8 weeks is the standard review time). It may or may not take longer. I believe NVC is trying to catch up and become current with their processing.

Here is a very helpful wiki. Please  read it well, read it several times. It helped us so much with this process.

And here is information on the NVC process from the NVC website.

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved.html

Once you get your case # follow this thread as it's very helpful and you will find a lot of support and information.

I hope all this is helpful. If you need anything else, just let me know. :)

I've been doing a lot of reading on the subject.

So far, we submitted the payment and now our receipts say the payment status is (paid).

Our choice of agent is our attorney, but it seems they are really busy, so I'm thinking about filling out the online forms + AOS myself to save some time.

I have a few questions though :

- the petitions are for myself and my child (the petitioner's stepson). Do we file 2 AOS (one per each applicant) or just 1 that includes us both?

-if we haven't filed 2016 taxes yet, do we use 2015? Or do we file the taxes for this year and then submit the related transcripts?

-our attorney wants us to notarize a letter stating my husband is currently living in Egypt with me but his domicile is the US. Does this letter really need to be notarized? The first available embassy appointment is in 3 weeks, that'll cost us a lot of time

I hope to hear back from you.

Thank you.

Well the review times are now 8 weeks from the time of your scan date (when they receive your AOS & IV packets), but it's actually taking much longer about 2.5 months, (I don't want to sugar coat it) from what I've seen has been average. Some people get a case complete quickly within the normal review times, while others don't (and that's not including RFE's)

Right now we're at 9 weeks going on 10 weeks from our scan date, and was put on supervisor review 3 weeks ago, but still no case complete. I do believe it's soon and I'm trying my best to keep positive. On the NVC website they actually say it can take up to 2 months to process a case as this is the norm now, so no worries. :) But once you submit your documents I suggest you stay on top of them, keep checking time to time, and if you get to 8 weeks without case complete, call them even more often. I call twice a week, Tues and Thurs, to check the status.
