Hope someone can help here:

Between 2015 & 2016 my husband and I were covered by Covered California for more than 6 months. Does it apply to this policy? Is Covered California considered a part of Obama Care? Now we both have insurance with our employers.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, we'd like to know too whether using Obamacare tax credits or subsidies is getting people denied.

ACA credits are not mentioned in the rule change proposal. However, Medicaid is, and CHIP may be included, DHS is requesting comments. Many states administer CHIP together with ACA and Medicaid in the same state health plan/portal, so if these rules are enacted, recipients would have to determine whether they are receiving Medicaid or CHIP.

Also, DHS will be paying closer attention to medical conditions that are not grounds for inadmissability, but in their opinion may indicate future public charge likelihood.

I excerpted key sections from the 447 page DHS rule change proposal, in this post.

The new updates are.. very concerning for me. While I’m relived they DIDN’T add Obamacare into the proposal as it had been speculated and discussed in the past, the Medicaid thing might still come back to bite us.

When my husband (then fiancé) first moved here I was only 21, in college working part time and still on my family health insurance before we got married. Around the time I got married, my father, lost his job of 16 years and the insurance for all of us. We ended up all getting on Badgercare, our states medicaid program. My fiancé/husband did not of course, he just purchased a plan through the ACA. I ended up on the Badgercare for a year or two before I was able to graduate and find gainful employement. I have private insurance now and my husband is paying for an ACA plan, but I’m worried my stint on state Medicaid may be an issue as we are filing to remove conditions this month..

The whole thing is a mess. I am a US Citizen and my US Citizen 3 y/o daughter is currently without health insurance this several months because I am hesitant to apply for CHIP/ACA- I just paid out of pocket for her flu shot.

My spouse is a 10 yr LPR and I know currently public charge is not reassessed for naturalization, but the admin is certainly signaling that any use of any benefits even by USC family members will be used against applicants wherever it possibly can.

I do hope there is a Dem administration in power in 2021.

I'm a 10 yr LPR and me and the kids are under ACA health insurance plan. Just applied for my citizenship and had my biometrics. Follow my profile if you want to see how I progress?  Personally, I'm not really worried about it, I think it's just a shady practice from them but there's no legal standpoint they can take against us who seek citizenship based on how "poor" we are.

What is sad is that just the fear if the potential of future policies is impacting your decision to get preventative care. That in and of itself makes the political rhetoric dangerous. Politicians need to learn that their words matter.

Did they ask any questions about benefits. Or did they just stick with the N-400 Application and Civics Questions?

My interviewer only asked a few questions, as he view my papers on his computer like he saw them for the first time, such as "so....you're married.." and I was like Yeah, for 18 years soon.  And since he looked to be in his late 50s, I added, I bet you've been married longer.  LOL (38!)

"And....you have a child"    Two actually, I responded and with their names.

And then he went straight for the Civic questions.   Like I've mentioned before, it's just scare tactics from the current admin. I mean, sure if you have been living completely on the State with foodstamps, etc etc. since you've lived here, then it might be a red flag, but getting subsided healthcare isn't.
