if they find you broke a serious enough law they can start removal proceedings against you.

I would like to know if my application gets denied in general, will it effect my GC status? I'm aware of breaking any serious law will put me in removal proceedings since I'm LPR

Could do, depends.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

The short answer is NO. As stated unless something is revealed during the n400 process a general denial because you failed the civics test or have a GMC issue due to DUIs or such WONT impact your ability to renew your GC,

Lots of people are denied citizenship for various reasons like the above and have no problem renewing GCs. Is there a specific reason why you worry you wont be approved citizenship? It would make the answers you receive more specific to your situation and not just general what ifs/

Depends on the basis for denial. There are a lot of reasons they could deny you such as failing to pass civics test twice, failure to satisfy N400 eligibility requirements, lack of good moral character, tax issues, voting as US citizen, claiming US citizenship, etc etc. I think one issue that could compromise the GC is if you have lied to USCIS and/or they figured out you have obtained your GC in a fraudulent manner.

Thank you all for their help. I just want to get this done smoothly and my question was based on general criteria. Since I'm new for this so I had some confused questions to be asked. I will probably apply within a week or two and keep you guys posted for my case. I wish everyone good luck in becoming citizen and congratulations to those who have already got their citizenship. Love and respect.
