AP: Trump to call for 20% import tax

Apparently he still thinks that means Mexico is paying for the Wall fence thingy. The reality is a 20% import tax will get passed onto the American consumer (i.e. literally anything that can be purchased from Walmart). An empty tax that gets passed to us. Why not just be honest and say we're footing the bill? Oh right... I forgot, alternative facts. Can any of our more economically minded posters attempt to convince me that such costs won't get passed onto the consumer? I don't think this is what's going to pay for the wall. I also don't think anyone else seriously believes that. If you read the whole article there seems to be some confusion and Spicer opened his mouth too soon again but at the end of the day it wasn't proposed by Trump and doesn't seem like he's a fan and what Priebus said is true, there are other options. Of course with a 20% tax on imports the Mexicans don't pay a dime for that...

No he won't. He's bluffing. He's trying to intimidate Mexico's president into a asking for a deal. Trump knows that hurting Mexico's exports he hurts the American economy as well.

Well, in this particular case it's just a matter of understanding how economy and diplomacy works. But Trump is indeed unpredictable. I just mentioned a logical line of thought.
