So I just spoke to him and asked him to clarify because I'm freaking out, and he stated the "sources"  he was referencing was his law professor going on a tangent about what trump "may do". ?

He then called his his father who is a seasoned NYC immigration attorney and his father stated exactly what y'all said....

Sorry to clog up the board with my hysteria but I'm deeply in love and Trump hasn't exactly put me at ease considering I'm planning to petition for a Mexican fiancé...

yall know more than a NYC law student lol. Idk why he tries to scare me ?? he's done it since trump got elected. Oh well, moving on now

muchas gracias xo

Oh a college professor is his source?!  Hahahaha... don't you know that 99% of all college professors are left wing radical idiots?  They "teach" law because they can't practice law.  OMG, take a chill pill or have a margarita...but not both.  Trump will make this country great again!

He just said his "sources" say that there is probably going to be bans from Mexico and that my fiancé getting a K1 isn't going to happen

.... I'm in Mexico right now and we were going to have an engagement party this weekend but now idk if it's even appropriate to have it anymore due to the whole trump thing. I'm extremely upset and discouraged and idk where my life is heading now....

Quit listening to rumors of course they;ll be changes, even quotas lowered, but please go with your

lives, stop over thinking, at the same time have a discussion on What if/s (plan B) have fiance also

petition you there.....If all is done legally for now ppl is fine....Your friend is spreading rumors

OP, is this friend single? Possibly male? Possibly interested in you and can't fathom that you are bringing over someone from Mexico when he feels he's more than ripe for the picking.

I was about to say that!

Anyway, I am graduated in law. A word of advice: law students take some time to realize that they are no one while in school. Most think that they are justices from the Supreme Court just because they study law. So your friend doesn't know what he's talking about and he's probably interested in you.

My opinion: chill. Executive orders can't go that far. And I don't think that's the focus anyway. USA and Mexico have a codependent relation, so there's not much the US government can do without it backfiring.

relax , my friend! you and your fiancee will be fine , should you decide your US immigration journey .as long as you follow the book.  I believe your friend is not trying to scare you. He just tries to look out for you guys.

President Trump is very a smart guy , a A-level strategist.he sees where our problems are. immigrants are never poised as problem( every one of our founding fathers and mothers were illegal). The problem lies within us, simply put. We don't have much money as we use to be. when one is rich, s/he is the philanthropist, welcomes everyone. once getting poor ,s/he easily blames everything. It's sad to see we cannot keep up with globalization, we are being forced to closed our door to the world , but it seems we  don't have much options, I really hope Mr. Trump can make America great again( by saying that, he also admits America already passed his golden age ). But like a person, How can you stop aging ? even with extreme plastic surgeries, you only lie to yourself .

And for his harsh rhetorics , you shouldn't be worry at all. He only speaks to  those who want him to say that way. because he needs their votes and support. for example,  a most simple-minded person would know building a wall will not stop any illegal activities , but it can manipulate a lot of sentiment. Plus it can also be an leverage to other things( why he bring out the  stupid building-the-wall thing right before the reopening of the NAFTA?)

Enjoy the days with your loved ones. our time on this planet is so limited. Less stress and more happiness.

There is a world of difference, between , getting a visa and paying some criminal to hide in a truck, cargo container etc etc. Just follow the proper procedures. Start at the U.S.C.I.S site everything you need to know is there. Seriously, everything.

Well, his "sources" have no clue what they're talking about. It's conjecture as best, outright deliberately misleading at worst.

I have this friend who is in law school in NYC and he keeps messaging me stating that my fiancé "will not get a marriage visa" and that it's essentially a lost cause... it just freaks me out a lot.... idk who to believe

Your friend is in law school and not attending your engagement party in Mexico, so how close? Clearly has a bright future ahead of them, .....

possibly as bright as a glowworm`s armpit ...... an older relative of mine would say this to about half of our family at different times!.

My take:

If messages persist, simply state "thank you for your support, my new extended family would like to know your home address to drop by, get to know you as a friend of mine, see people who know me, because some of them are worried you may be jealous and not want the relationship to succeed. When do you have time? Can I set a date for you?"

Agree'd. Out of the people here who actually have a law degree and those studying, it's always the ones studying that are the loudest with how much knowledge they have on a certain subject and are very willing to yell it loud and proud for all to hear, regardless if it's right or wrong, and they'll generally make sure to tell you they're studying law in school. Those with actual degrees, much more finesse, quieter about it and only really speak up if they have experience on the topic.

If you both wanna live in the US then you go for it and apply for the papers. Why not? Yes, it takes some money and time but its doable. Don't let anybody else go in your way of creating your dream life. As long as everything happens on a legal basis you have nothing to fear. Go for it and worst case, if it would not work out you can still decide to move to Mexico. But dont just try it because of somebody elses rumors and "sources".
