So I just spoke to him and asked him to clarify because I'm freaking out, and he stated the "sources"  he was referencing was his law professor going on a tangent about what trump "may do". ?

He then called his his father who is a seasoned NYC immigration attorney and his father stated exactly what y'all said....

Sorry to clog up the board with my hysteria but I'm deeply in love and Trump hasn't exactly put me at ease considering I'm planning to petition for a Mexican fiancé...

yall know more than a NYC law student lol. Idk why he tries to scare me ?? he's done it since trump got elected. Oh well, moving on now

muchas gracias xo

I'm glad you got it figured out. Good luck!

Law student doesn't mean much here. haha Like you noted, you need an attorney that specializes in immigration to get correct information. The types of laws and procedures in immigration aren't covered unless you're looking specifically at immigration

He is full of bologna.  Sounds more like a jealousy thing going on his part.   Best part you don't need a lawyer to do this for you. You can do it yourself, its not difficult, just patience and positive attitude.

Best wishes.

It's up to you and where you want to live. For me it took 10 months to get my GC, however it is a difficult process and it takes money. It is possible though. So if you both want to live in Mexico, go for it. If not, then start the process.

this sums it up in a nut shell..

There has been talk that action can be taken on Visas as part of this bickering, but I doubt it would affect marriage related, I think worst case it would just be a more complicated process.

I'm actually in the same boat as you but decided to do CR-1.

My wife is more worried about it than I am.

My fiancée is Mexican ,  I am USC.... is it even worth it to try to have him move here anymore or should I just move to Mexico

it is worth for your fiancee to come here or you moving to Mexico is totally up to you and your fiancee. However if you are referring to Trump being the president and that effecting you in any way then you have nothing to worry about. If you go through legal channels (K1, CR1 and etc... ) then it doesn't effect you at all. I don't think the wall is going to be that high anyway hahah

I actually laughed when I read this. Sorry that you are genuinely worried, but you shouldn't be. The K1 visa process CAN take as little as 6 months and there is nothing that would take effect anyway in that amount of time, but like others have said, there probably won't be too many changes as far as LEGAL immigration. And I have gotten a lot of bad information from liberal college professors due to their bias and it sounds like that is all his professor was doing, an anti-trump rant, nothing more. I would just decide what you both want to do with your future (live in the US or Mexico) and go forward with that. I know for me personally, I made up my mind that I wanted to be with my now husband and it didn't matter how that had to happen, when you decide that no matter what happens you choose eachother, you get less scared about stuff like this :)

Yes your friend is correct you wouldn't be getting a marriage visa since you are engaged and filing a K1. Why are you letting someone scare you. Follow the news and read.  There's nothing your "friend" is saying that's remotely factual.
