Hi all hope every1 is having good luck with their process. Had a cpl questions...

My fiancee just got her packet from the embassy in Bogota. We filled out the 230 and she signed the affidavit and we are facing it tomorrow. They say that we will get our appointment in the mail for about 4 weeks down the road. I've got a couple of questions.

1) im assuming with the int date at the embassy will be another appointment for her medical exam. Does she hav eto take all the docs or can she just take the appointment letter she will be getting?

2) After the interview and after we have visa in hand...I believ she has 6 months to travel to the US. Once she enters the US we have 90 days to marry. Here is my question...If after we have the visa we decide to get married in Colombia....can I just send in the marriage certificate from Colombia once she steps foot on US land or do we need to atleast get re-married in the US?

Thanks

I'm not sure if by the first question you meant does she need to take all of the documents she will take with her to the interview to the medical? The answer to that is no. If you meant something else, I'm sorry I didn't understand and, to be honest, am so far removed from the process by now I probably wouldn't answer correctly anyway.

As to your second question, however, I do know the answer to that. You CANNOT marry "officially" for the first time abroad...since you are doing a K1 visa, you must get married, once she enters the US, within 90 days IN the United States. You can have some sort of "ceremony" or whatever (not an actual marriage..unofficial type thing) but you won't be able to do that once she enters....as she won't be able to leave again until she gets advance parole or her green card...you would have to travel to her BEFORE her entry on the K1 visa. Your marriage, at least the legal civil part, has to be here in the US.

Hope this helps..best wishes to you! :) M.

I didn't understand the first question either, it's not worded properly. But if your question is "does your fianceé need to take all documents to her medical?" The answer is no. She only needs to take her interview letter and vaccine records if she has them.

For the second question. Like it was stated above, no you cannot marry before entering the country with a K-1 visa.
