So me and my fiancee are currently in the whole process of obtaining a K1 visa and we are now at the point where I've received the letter saying my I-129F form has been approved and I can now book my medical examination and then after that go for my interview, my question is, is there a time limit that will make my visa void or anything of the sort?, I ask because I had booked a trip to go and see my fiancee about a week before I received the letter and obviously with the price of plane tickets I couldn't just not go, so I did go and was there for around a month and now I'm back and trying to get everything together for my medical examination, I should have an appointment within the next two weeks. I just wanted to know if I had compromised my visa in any way due to leaving it one to two months before getting a medical done, thanks guys.

Just found it, is valid for 4 months, it was approved on 13th on october and I got the approval on the 29th of november, so not only did I lose a month and 2 weeks on the 4 months its valid for due to not having it but now I don't have enough time to get a medical and interview in time.

I think you might've posted this question earlier and I answered (unless it's just a similar question by another user) but as far as I know, you haven't compromised your visa in the slightest.

A friend, who is going through this process from the U.K as well, told me the date (which I'm assuming is 4 months after you approval date) does not play any significant role. I was worried my fiancé and I wouldn't be able to complete the medical and visa in time (as we were worried it would take too long to receive the police certificate) which he told me was a non-issue. From what he said, your petition is valid for a year and during this time, if said date is passed, the London embassy will extend it. If this occurs, you'll need to get an updated Letter of Intent from the USC stating they are still willing to marry you with an updated date since you submitted the I-129F.  I would still try to get things done as soon as possible, but the date isn't the end of the road from what he's told me, and it's really helped calm our nerves. :) Hopefully it'll help you rest easy!

As long as you are moving through the steps of what is needed for interview the embassy can extend the petition expiration date.  So make sure your DS160 is completed and submitted at the very least.

So while you need to be conscious of it and keep things moving, it's not a completely definite deadline.
