London embassy K-1 administrative processing - how long?

How long does "administrative processing" take at the London Embassy and what is the implication?

My fiance (French citizen living in UK) had his K-1 interview at the London embassy on January 17. The embassy told him on that day that they hadn't received his medical yet which is unreasonable (he had his medical exam on November 30). He immediately asked the Knightbridge doctor's office to re-send the medical which arrived at the embassy on January 18 (doctor's office confirmed this).

Our case has since been in administrative processing according to CEAC (State Dept website). At the brief interview they only asked him 3 questions and took his passport. They asked for the medical (which was the only piece of document missing). The interview itself seems to have gone well.

Did anyone have similar experiences at the London embassy? How long would "administrative processing" take in London? Thank you in advance.

AP can last an indefinite amount of time. It could be days, it could be weeks, months, or even years. That said, since the only noted problem was with the medical information, my assumption would be that it's on the "weeks" side of things.

You noted they received the medicals on the 18th. That's only 1 week ago. Just be patient a bit longer before stressing yourself out. :) My guess would be that, assuming medicals was the only issue, you'll hear back within the next week or two. Don't hold me to that, but that's my guess. Good luck!

hey, i know this has been a while now, hopefully you can help me, i was wondering how did your ,now husband, do for the medical exam regarding immunization record ? what paper did he bring ? also did they asked for his birth and police certificate to be less than 3month old? and translated ? I am a french citizen living in the uk and it can be a little bit confusing to figure this out as they dont have instruction in this specific case.

Hi, to answer your question, my then fiance brought his immunization record (endorsed by his doctor in France) to the Knightsbridge doctor in London, and they accepted it. They gave him a few extra shots to complete the record.

As for the police report and birth certificate, those are required by the embassy, not the doctor (if I remember correctly). Yes you need to have all French documents translated into English and the translator has to provide a certification that they are qualified and fluent in English and French.

Wishing you all the best!

Thank you very much for your help !

For the police and birth certificate I was referring at the interview level. I know if I was to have my interview in France they ask those documents to be dated less than 3month old. I wondered if London requiried this as well,

and for the immunization record he brought from France was it like a book that we call “Carnet de santé” ? I was going to have a titer test for immunization record but if They accept that then I won’t waist my time going to the gp for that.

Yes you need police report and birth certificate, the originals and translations, for the interview in London. I think they do want recent ones (within 3 months). Double check the London embassy K-1 webpage instructions though.

Indeed it's the Carnet de santé from France. The London doctor was able to understand and transcribe records from that booklet.
