My name is Liban, age 20, I am a refugee in Kenya. My nationality is Somali.

Case-F2A,  son of a permanent resident (petitioner - my father)

- Dec 12, 2016  Interview at US Embassy Nairobi

VO saw all my docs (refugee card, school record, affidavit.......)and at the end he gave me a yellow 221g letter  requesting for additional documents (immunization record, old birth cert, old docs....)

I don't know why he asked. Already to speed up the process, DNA verification (father - son) was done and submitted to the embassy. Is it  probably because i am a refugee in Kenya and don't have Somali passport?

 - Dec 13 CEAC Case changed from Ready to  Administrative Processing

- Dec 28 submitted docs by courier

- Jan 9, 2017 Email received saying docs are with Consular Officer under review

- Jan 9 CEAC Case updated again to Administrative Processing

 - Jan 25 CEAC still in Administrative Processing since Jan 9, 2017. I called the embassy in the morning and customer representative said to be patient until   review is over.

- How many more days to wait? Anyone had the same experience?

I thought it would be done a week after i submitted my docs.

My father is restless and he wants to personally come from Dallas, TX to Nairobi to ask about the case.

Thanks all. And i wish you good luck on your case.

AP can last days, weeks, months, or longer.

With the new immigration changes being made I would realistically expect even more delays to be honest. Patience is the key thing you need to remember right now.

You are right. When i didn't receive enough replies. Then i thought of sharing it on other forum for visibility.

Thanks for your comments.

AP for certain nationals can take longer due to extensive background checks.  File is out of the US embassy domain once in AP; dad travelling to Nairobi will have no affect.

Not sure if you're following the news..

Somali nationals, incl US LPRs, are currently barred from entering the US; along with nationals from 6 other nations. AP may take a while.

Yeah, i saw the news over the weekend. Trump's EO mentioned my country in the list.

But i didn't know that it will affect the 221g AP.

I can wait the 120 days ban to enter USA; all i care is issuance of my immigrant visa.

They won't issue you the visa in that period of time.
