Actually, we were stopped by Texas police and it's turned out with my Russian) international driver's license I'm allowed to drive 6months from the day of entry. P.S. I have 1 month left))

Yeah... and you can have a "temporary address" while visiting... for mail.. and such... it's just that... if I say I'm not a legal resident of my home country anymore... then I'm not a legal resident

I just want to add that these rules suck so bad and that I don't understand why on earth they just don't allow you to drive until you get a decision of some sorts after applying for aos... it's beyond

Why would I weep lol I was stopped in Arizona for having a tail light out. Showed the officer the licence and my documents and he let me go.

If you have an international driver's license from your home country, that should always be valid. I am using mine all the time. My international driver's license from Belgium is valid until December 2018.

 

I still have my expired Missouri driver's license to show that I took the driver's test. I am even on the insurance of the car we purchased while my I-94 was valid.

 

I am now driving in Florida without any problems so far.

This page says you should apply for a driver's permit if you are eligible. Since we are out of status, we are not eligible. So just use your international driver's permit instead.

as a k1 entrant, you're not a visitor. You should be looking into residents rules

It is not a international DL it's an international permit all it does is translate your countrys DL. It does n't give you right to drive. You have to follow the rules of the state you live in as when you are suppose to have a state DL to drive.
