Hello,

This is my first post. I am a American and my husband is Colombian. We have been married since 2002. He was deported in 2004 after serving 2 years in jail here in Texas. He said they told him he could never come back. Is this true? I don't know what to do next. Should I file for a visa? I'm sure at some point he'll be denied. Is a I-601 done before or after your visa is denied? Should I hire an attorney? How much will that cost me? I'm sooo confused :wacko::(

Please help me with any initial info.

Probably an I601 and an I212.

There are a couple of situations where this would not work, if he entered without inspection more than once or if the conviction was serious.

Thanks! I really appreciate the info. One more question--Do you recommend I file these myself?? I've heard that cases like his are really complicated and I should hire an attorney.
