This is where adjusting from tourist/work visas differ from the K-1. In this case there will be an interview (it is only waivable for K-1 adjustments), and it will be the first time that their relationship will be "vetted".  A K-1 applicant has an interview in their home country; when adjusting from a different visa, the AOS interview has to verify the validity of the relationship. They could just use photos of trips, phone calls etc, but it would be much better (easier) if they start the financial co-mingling now, to have more concrete evidence. The ROC is then just more of the same.

Interesting. Thanks for pointing out the differences.

You married on a whim?

Are you going back to your country to apply for CR-1? If not, be prepared for especially heavy scrutiny from USCIS.

This is not true at all.  I pretty much have a similar situation.  I was in a relationship for 3 years with my then boyfriend until my last visit which was March 2016.  We talked about it and I decided that I will NOT to get married but for us to get to know each other as it didn't make sense that we get married and not knowing each other.  We are always together during vacations and we all know that marriage is not like that.  It was huge risk but I took it.  We started talking about marriage late July but officially got married September. I then filed for AOS, 3 months after got my EAD. I just had my AOS interview and it went smooth. Preparation is key.  Make sure you have all documents that would prove the relationship is genuine.

Congratulations and good luck on your journey.  It will take time and the waiting can be dragging but its worth it.
