F1 visa administrative processing 221g

I had my interview today 24 January 2017 in Islamabad . Visa officer kept my passport but gave me 221g slip saying we need some time to review your case before we make a final decision. My classes are starting in 4 days and most likely i will be transferring my i20 to next semester. But is this normal I don't even know how long the process would take. Please advise if keeping my passport a good sign.

Yes this is very normal; people from your country, especially younger males, usually get extra security checks.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
