AOS Interview cancelled; EAD expiring

Hello everyone, pls help. I was scheduled for AOS interview on 1/26/17. They cancelled the appointment with no explanation. My EAD expires on 1/28/17. I submitted a request for status on 1/13/17 as it has been over 75 days since I applied for renewal. I received a letter today stating that it is within normal processing time. I know it's up to 90 days but I figured they'd have the courtesy to renew as they cancelled my appointment. I am so frustrated as I can't work after Friday. I am still going to show up to the interview as I don't know what else to do. Please share your opinions on this matter. PS I attempted to contact a representative but have not received a response.

My case was accepted on October 25th, 2016. I have the receipt notice for the renewal.

You can call and ask for an expedite based on severe financial loss if you lose your job. 

 

You should file for renewal EAD and AP documents 120 days before your current documents will expire.

So filing 100 days before gives USCIS an excuse to not have it completed before expiration? Thanks for you comments but this is not helpful. You and I both know that it does not make a difference. They do this because they can.

The earliest you can file for renewals is 120 days before your current documents will expire. Therefore, you should file 120 days before. 

 

It takes around 90 days to process EADs and AP - initial documents or renewals - so the earlier you apply the better.

I understand your frustration since losing your job over something you can't control 100% is no laughing matter, but what Hypnos said it's true and you shouldn't lash out like that. You had the responsibility and option to file as soon as you could to renew your documents, interview or no interview. The first part of Hypnos's advice is also true - go for an expedite based on financial hardship at the prospect of losing your job if your EAD is not renewed on time.

Thank you @Cadence. I just found out however, that effective 1/19/2017 applicants with pending I485 who applied for renewals before EAD expires can work up to 180 days after expiration. He/she should present the application receipt to the employer as proof. For DMV purposes, they are in a bracket of their own. I will take a chance and try to renew my DL.

Was informed via phone by customer service rep today. Also spoke to my HR department and they are aware of the policy effective 1/19/2017. I have looked it up on USCIS website but did not find it. Pls note that it only pertains to family based AOS. I would recommend that VS readers call customer service and ask about their individual cases.

is this executive order or written law? I only ask this because it is the last day of one presidency so it could be reversed just as easily if it is not a written law.

Cancellations happen but I would show up there anyway, just to be safe. I've seen a thread or two where it was a mixup and then listed as a no show and given a NOID. Just go in case. 

 

They usually reschedule within a few months.

No idea. I'm aware of Trump's order to hold off on politicies at federal agencies. Like I said, call and verify for your individual case. If my HR says they're aware of it, then that's good enough for me.

That's exactly what I'm doing. I'm going there on Thursday with my fingers crossed and ?.
