Hey all, so far I haven't had many hangups in the paper work but I have a weird feeling hanging over me that something is going to go wrong.

The basic situation is this; my wife (girlfriend at the time) came to visit me in the states (with a tourist visa) and I surprised her with a ring and a few months later we married here where she is now still living. We decided to file the papers so we won't have to be apart and I just need some reassurance and a couple questions answered.

First off for the i-130 are photocopies of passports and birth certificates acceptable? I hunted for quite some time and never came across and answer to that.

Second, my wife had no intentions of getting married when she came so she didn't bring her vaccinations and if she could get them it would be in spanish. How crucial is it to do the I-693 at the time of sending the 485 package? We are hurting for time now and need to get this thing shipped off ASAP.

AAAnnnd one last question/reassurance

I don't remember reading exactly and I just want to double check. when we send the forms, required docs, and evidence we send them all in the same package separated by tabs even if the forms are all suppose to be mailed to different locations? or do we send them to their respective locations?

Forms we have filled out so far

i-130

i-485

g-325 hers

g-325 mine

i-765

i-864 mine

i-864A relative household sponser

any and all help is much appreciated! thanks in advance

Your wife needs to have a medical done. I-693 needs to be submitted along with everything else to the Chicago Lockbox. If you don't you will get an RFE and that will complicate/hold up your case. Make the appointment ASAP.

Also - photocopies are fine. You should not send originals to USCIS. However you are required to take the originals with you to the interview, if you have one.

thanks for the quick reply!

also just thought of something, I remember reading that they would appreciate if you punch holes in the top of the paper to help with filing, does that mean we shouldn't staple things?

I wouldn't worry about small details like that personally. There are filing guidelines on USCIS website if you want to look , but honestly USCIS are not going to deny you case because of incorrect hole punches. As long as the packet is neat and well organised. The people at the Chicago Lockbox will tear it apart and reorganise it to their liking anyway - so there's not much point in overengineering it IMHO.

PS I stapled my forms and got away with it!
