Did either/both of you have your AOS adjudicated without interview? The penny just dropped...

Read this, and see if you think that might be an answer.

If you were transfered to CSC, or were in the DORA or NYC pilot programs, that might explain.

Meauxna,

My wife and I did have an interview before I got my 2 year green card, is that what you mean?

In the meanwhile, we have opened a joint savings account, and are getting my name on the loan and mortgage deed, and have re-ordered IRS transcripts for 2004 and 2005. I am also going to get affadavits from friends and neighbours. Do you think that will suffice?

Or rather, we submitted all the documents, together in person, and had a sort of interview. It was very painless. What is DORA?

Doyle, I still can't tell what type of case you had, but if your INITIAL document submission was that appointment/interview, that sounds like DORA or one of the related programs.

They are streamlined adjustment cases that don't have the same type of interview that a "Lockbox filed" AOS would have, and some people suspect that because the initial interview was waived, there will be an in-person interview at I-751 time.

You are doing the correct thing, responding to the mail they sent you. It sounds like you have been collecting up all the requested evidence, so best wishes, and be sure to let us know how it comes out!

Ok, Here is what I am putting together for this damned RFE:

1. I requested and am now in posession of 2004 and 2005 official tax return transcripts

2. We have opened a joint savings a/c and now have our first joint statement

3. We are in the process of getting my name on the mortgage deed

4. Copies of my and my wife's employer benefits, showing each other as beneficiaries

5. Copies of House and Car Insurance in both names

6. Copies of Cable TV bill in my wife's name and copies of my bank statements showing that I pay that bill

7. Copies of Electricity bill in both names and copies of my bank statments showing that I pay that bill

8. Copies of gas bill in my wife's name and copies of my bank statements showing that I pay that bill.

9. Copies of my cell phone bill, in my wife's name and copies of my bank statments showing that I pay that bill

10. Copies of both bank statements/cheques reflecting large purchases including cars etc.

11. Signed Affadavits from three different couples (our neighbours, my boss and his wife and also a couple we are friends with)

12. Various Photographs.

Sigh. Is this enough?

Doyle,

Only the USCIS case officer can answer your question. And don't worry, they will answer!
