Police clearance, and Passport issues

I'm trying to get organized ahead of time here as much as possible. I have a few question regarding this part..

*At what point in the process is Police clearance needed?

*Our concern here is this.. My fiance has her passport birth year about 10 years older than her real age. Thanks to the agency she signed with, they did this in order for her to be able to leave the PI to work abroad (at an earlier age).

*Has anybody else ever heard about this happening before?

*And if so, how can this be corrected before/after the Police clearance documents are needed?

** Another sticking point is that her passport is still in her (previous) married name (now divorced)..

HELP!, any suggestions and or answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Oh, my.  The crazy stuff that is done in the Philippines that can come back to bite you later.

The police certificate will be needed for the interview at the embassy.

The police certificate is not an issue, the passport is.  The passport needs to match her PSA birth certificate.

The passport is handled through DFA.

The process for obtaining the police certificate from a foreign country is outlined here:  https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html

Divorced?  Details please.  There is no divorce in the Philippines except for a select few.

My fiance is so calm about this it scares me haha. With chatting with her last night, I know that her passport was updated recently to coincide with her new working contract. She's not stressing the police cert., although I am, She's been in the same country now for 10 years, but was in Lebanon before than. I feel that she needs the police cert. from both countries. Of course her feelings are different, Lol. I understand that getting the police records from Lebanon are difficult to receive, if you receive any at all.

my understanding about her divorce is this.. She married in the PI, her husband went back home to the states to start the paperwork for her to come here. She never heard from him again, never answered correspondence letters, email, had his phone number changed.. everything you could imagine. Those were her grounds for divorce, and was granted one.. best of my knowledge.

Yes she needs a police certificate for ANY foreign country where she resided for 6 months or more after age 16.

OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for six (6) months or more after reaching age 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, aliases or nicknames used while in the country in question, including different spellings you have used of those names. Countryspecific information on how to secure police certificates is available on the State Department’s website at http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html.

Some countries are waiver countries for the police certificate as they can only be obtained in person.  I gave you the link earlier for checking this.

WHERE did she get this divorce?  What country?  She will need copies of the divorce decree, in English for the interview.

Thanks for the Police cert. info and web links, much appreciated. She spoke of going to the Lebanese embassy where she lives.

She got her divorce in the PI, and she is aware she'll need copies of that for the interview. I'd like to put enough $$ together to go to the interview process with her. If the interview goes well and she is issued a visa.. how long will it take for her to get her passport and visa to travel back with me?.. if you have any guesstimates. :D

Wow, that's good....but from what I've been reading very difficult to obtain an annullment in the Philippines, big hurdle for you guys.

So the times are always different for how long it takes for her to get her visa after the interview. I can tell you my fiancée got hers in 4 days after the interview, but she made friends with some other Filipinas who were interviewing the same day and they didn't get their visas for about 15 days, so who knows! If there is any problems at the interview (which you better have all your documents covered considering your fiancée has some interesting travels and weird Passport issue), it could take months once your in Administrative Processing. So...it's all speculation and to hard to predict. Don't buy any tickets without her Visa in hand, that is the golden rule here!

Good luck!

It's difficult for anyone to predict when you will receive your visa. We are in "normal" visa processing times and we are seeing 5 to 10 business days after interview.  But, at times we have seen upwards of 30 days to 6 months for some.

Part of the test measures in answering your question are, estimating the time it will take USEM to process, issue and 2Go to deliver. Since no one can exactly simulate all visa conditions, actual visa processing of each person will vary. As a result, when these estimated visa claims from other applicants are published, I almost always state the standard disclaimer "your mileage may vary."

The USEM states in their Embassy Letter; "Do not finalize arrangements for travel to the United States, dispose of properties, or resign from your job until a visa has been issued and delivered to you".

I attended the interview with my wife, it was a great experience and yes it is something I highly recommend... just to watch the process, I was impressed.

After the interview it was 2 weeks before my wife received the visa package.  Some do get it much quicker, others take even longer.

And your fiancee will need to complete CFO before leaving the Philippines also.    Or will she be completing the visa process from the foreign country?
