Ewww I stupidly didn't realise that the name on my green card would have to match the name on my passport. I wasn't planning on updating my passport to my married name and assumed they would put the name I had used when filing etc on my green card... Nope! So £72.50 later and i am about to send off for my new passport. At least I realised with plenty of time to get it sorted! I'll have to set up a new ESTA too when my passport arrives... More money, more time. Plus I won't get to go into the short queue at Dublin airport with a new ESTA!! Boooo... This whole process is never ending lol

well in would hope that since it's not your first ESTA you would still be able to get on the short queue in Dublin, because I've traveled to the states with my second ESTA and I was allowed to step out of the normal queue. Good luck!

When I was last at Dublin airport a few weeks ago they were separating people into two lines... One line was for people who had travelled on that passport and esta before and they went to the self serve kiosks (me!!) And then the other queue which was sooooo long just went straight to the CBP officers. That line was going so slowly. I don't really know how it will work because I will have a brand new ESTA with a different passport number and different name that has never been through the system before so I'm sure I'll get put into the long line as I won't be eligible to use the self service kiosk... We shall see I guess! I'll just have to allow for more time. Also, very sorry for your loss x

I filed for I-130 on Jan 19th and received my NOA-1 within week or so. It's been almost 4 months now but so far I haven't got NOA-2 yet. My wife is in India and she has B2 visa, I was wondering if somone can tell me if she can visit me for few weeks or not. Any response would be appreciated.

If she has a tourist VISA she can, t's not against the law, but there's always the possibility of being denied entry, so tell her to have her return ticket, bring enough evidence/ties to her country as well as be super honest with CBP. And unfortunately It's taking up to 7-8 months for approval :(

It's been four months since I got married, three of those months since we started the process. A total of eight months long distance so far.

I know we have at least 3 more months to go, but some days are just rougher than others.

Let's stay sane together <3 I wish every one of you a stable, fast (as fast as possible) process.

I have the same situation here. So what can happen if I won't change the passport?

The only thing that will happen is the green card will be issued in the maiden name as per the original passport and not in the married name. I'm actually just waiting to get my updated passport back now. 😊

LaurenAndBrent  thank you. There is such a long pocess to change the passport here, it can take a couple months. So I hope there is a possibility to change the name after getting the green card.

I'm also looking at having to do this but the cost for changing the name on green card is $400+. I'm definitely going to be updating my passport pretty soon.
