I was hoping for a bit more movement this month from Nebraska, I think some september filers and some

from October got transferred to other centres, so we might see some bigger jumps in the dates soon.

I think at this point, all we can do is get the next lot of paperwork ready and just be prepared to send it off as soon as you can, but it really is a waiting game.

I can't help but think that those dates are utter BS

Maybe I just speak for myself, but the dates for all the I-130 petitions at the Texas Service center make no sense... as they are the same for spouses, parents, children and siblings! We all know that the latter takes several years to process !

Also, when I look at the Texas timelines, pretty much everyone up until late November has been approved So I really don't see the point of those updates as they obviously do not reflect reality !

The dates on the uscis are delayed, it only records upto January, we have another 6 weeks of them slowly going through the files to add, which is why it's important to create a timeline on visa journey - Nebraska is still on August 25th according to VJ and people's timelines, but again it relies on people updating the information, to give a more accurate estimate.

Texas has always been quicker I think people are reporting December now which is great for those in Texas.

Im so jealous and happy - its a very mixed bag of emotions.

Hopefully Nebraska has transferred some cases out to other sites, it might help clear the bag log that seems to have bottle necked the Nebraska centre.

Indeed it is, eventhough the wait is a pain it does provide time to prepare for the next step

We are just finishing up taxes for this year, my passport hurtling its way to the USA so I can get an ITIN number so the hubby can file married jointly.

The only thing I'm really planning is a visit to see him in April or meeting him in Mexico to lie on the beach and just forget for a week that we can't go home together.

Let me tell you that one week is valuable time to absolutely go for, my wife went back to the US today after one week of visiting me in Rotterdam and for 7days we were just able to forget about immigration and travel between 3 countries, it was a blast! So I say to you yessss plan that vacation and simply chillex!  Now I'm planning on visiting her in may, so that gives me something else to look forward other than counting days, I've been doing this long distance thing for 4 years now and it's getting harder to be separated everytime.

This is so frustrating (the wait time) fees have gone up this year but processing times have slowed down? I'm going in may to see my wife.

It's absolutely nuts realizing that it costs more money to file the same forms and if takes more time to process the same actual forms...like really people???!!!! Where's the head of USCIS when you need them, i know creating new legislation takes time and cost money but to have to pay for more for a longer waiting time is silly. My wife tells me often that the Netherlands has alot of rules, but I tell her those rules work perfectly, because our immigration has 4 to 8 weeks to decide on an application and if they need more time they need to let you know why because it's going to cost them to have to pay the petioner a fine for not following up on legislation....if uscis want I can help them get rid of alot of bureaucracy...it's killing the system and overloading the workers. It's all about compliancy & time efficiency ...?

Hello Martin,

I also plan on filing Married filing jointly. I need an ITIN number. Do you think I need to submit original certified copies of her passport, marriage certificate and birth certificate? These documents are certified but I really do not want to submit original documents to the IRS. I would need them later on in the process.

Thanks

Hey PAK123,

I have been down in the states for the past 5 years with a student visa, living with my now husband. Two years ago I obtained my ITIN number when I submitted my request for one with his tax return. You can opt for the certified copy of the passport, the only reason I didn't was because I needed it to fly back to Canada for a visit and it took an additional 2-3 weeks to get the certified copy with my passport being sent. So I sent in my original passport. That being said, everything went smoothly. They used it, and sent it back in a timely manner. So whatever works best for you, but I believe all I needed was my passport for the ITIN application. Nothing else.

Fortunately we were able to file jointly this year and got quite the nice return as a result. Definitely worth doing!!!

Good luck!

Thanks for the quick response. I need to gather her documentation and submit as soon as possible.I guess I would need the most recent return at the NVC stage.

Hi GheC, I've was just able to create anew account online just to see if I would encounter any errors, but all I had to change was my username it was too short and I had to add a capital letter to my password. What is the error message saying when you try to create an account?
